yeah I think the animals now when its hunting season...I havent seen much of anything during shooting light. I almost hit a deer with my atv on the way back after hunting...it came probably 5 feet from running in front of me. I did see a bull moose loosing its velvet, this is the first time ive seen that!

Great 3 day weekend in the woods. With the exception of moose, didn't see anything.
Thankfully grouse started on the 1st, so that helped.
The elk are pretty quiet yet. It feels too warm. CDOW started the season a week earlier this year, not sure why.

nice! congrats...bears are out of the area it seems...I dont get their pattern if they have one. One day they are there the next they are gone! Like forest ninjas...We have bait out but they havent been around to get into it. I know there are bear because Ive gotten lots of pics to prove it. Maybe they will get into it soon. It just adds to the drive to kill me a good bear.

They are in season here...I'd shoot one just because of all the deer and stuff they kill.

Already killed one, and I'm pretty sure it's a female.

I held off labor day weekend because of that. Headed out tomorrow night for a full 4 days. Hoping to get an elk this week so I could get out and photograph some bulls in the full blown rut.

Been workins straight since season started and haven't been able to go out since my unit is 3 hours away! :goingcrazy: However been shooting daily in my yard and practicing with both quiver on and off. Seems more stable with quiver on but does make my bow noticeably heavier and also the breeze makes it like a sail with all the arrows in. Without the quiver I like the lightness of it but would be a pain to strap my quiver to my pack. What do yall do?

I went through this decision last night. Well, my quiver doesn't attach with the new sight so I didn't has a choice. I'll have it strapped to the back of my pack but I cannot easily access the arrows. I'll have to take the pack off, and remove the quiver if I decide to stalk. Not sure I like it but it is what it is.

I always practice with my quiver attached to my bow, so that's how I take it into the field. Plus, follow up or secondary shots are much quicker and easier when the quiver is attached. On more than one occasion, I have had white tail 2 does walk in to my shooting lanes. Whacked the first one, then while the second one stood there looking like "WTF just happened?!," I nocked a second arrow, and whacked her too. Would have been much more difficult to do if my quiver wasn't attached to my bow. I do have friends (yes, I have friends), that attach their quiver to their pack or to a tree however, although I can't recall a specific time when either of them took multiple deer back to back.

I agree with the above. I practice with the quiver on. It goes into the field that way as well.
this is entertaining for the recurve hunters, something to think about though for both...

I will probably get flamed for this but practicing I take the quiver off...just walking around I have it on. I dont notice much if any difference in accuracy.

I do the same thing. With that said, I do pretty much exclusively tree stand hunt. When I get into my stand I take it off with the exception of one arrow extra and hang it on the side of my tree stand. I take the extra arrow and hang it from the mini hooks on my bow rest as a back Arrow. I've always taken it off in the Treestand because I figured the less things moving the better off. I use a Matthews adjustable stabilizer to find the correct weight balance of my bow setup instead of my quiver. I will say, in ground Hunting, to me the obvious choice would be a quiver on the bow and not on the body, just my opinion

Some purest may even say that the loaded quiver on the bow throws the bow of balance because of the off center wait. Odveously, it's why you don't see bow quivers in competition.

I'm not gonna flame you. To each his own. As long as you can harvest an animal, that's all that matters right? I probably wouldn't notice much of a difference either, but I have always subscribed to the maxim of practice how you play. For me, it may be more mental than anything else at this point.

Still too hot to hunt here in Virginia. Temps were in the mid 90s yesterday. I hate sitting in a tree stand and having to swat bugs and mosquitoes away. I still do it, but that doesn't mean I like it...
