so i stopped paying attention to this website after i traded in my Taco. wasnt and easy decision. I wanted to check and see if others were in my same predicament after i remembered i ordered the box. i could really use one in my new truck. and after seeing these people get there boxes after the mods stepped in kinda gave me hope and then saw it ended. so again i am now truly giving up. just an FYI i ordered my box 12/30/14 and still not a peep after numerous times trying to contact and everything, so gave up. Events in my life have taught me life is way to short to care about a simple thing like a fuse box. i just hope he truly needed the money more than i did/do.

I think that's a lesson a lot of the vendors that start out on TW learn, in a very harsh way. I can count at least 4 that got too big for their britches whether it was taking too many orders at once or, more often, group buys when they weren't keeping up with orders in the first place. This isn't the first time a vendor has just up and left his product.

The bolded part is the hardest part for vendors who start on TW it seems and I don't blame them. Not knowing the overhead for the different business structures but I would venture to say most didn't start welding/wiring/whatever thinking it would turn into a successful business.

Hopefully all you guys get your stuff. I've browsed this thread a few times with disdain.

Getting too big can happen to the best of us. Not to mention life happens, we all have jobs etc.

I think the single biggest lesson is set aside the money collected so if stuff does go south you can refund people..or as NWA said, "don't get high off your own supply"

    It happens all the time:

1--People built a good product and see demand for it.
2--Other people see a cool product and want to buy the product.
3--Guy goes into production with no business plan with good intentions.
4--POOF ... The next thing, he is in over his head, but tries to catch up.
5--Then gets so far behind & eventually quits to keep from going crazy.

Not saying this is what happened, but I see it a lot with small business startups.

PS. I got burned on a small deal a long time ago.

Very true. I waited 6 months here for a homemade shift knob for similar reasons.

I understand if someone gets over the head.....I'm pretty patient because I appreciate small businesses...but this guy flat out stole $187. That is unforgivable.

Exactly the point I was making. When you collect the money you should have put most or all of it aside..Ideally, all, unless you need supplies to build that box in particular.

I don't remember seeing his boxes sold on other forums.

He was active in many, but he wasn't selling everything on every forum like he did here.

I know you all keep saying that he got in over his head, but the simple answer for any "vendor" just starting out is to take small batch orders only and start a waiting list. Only accept payment for the small batch you are working on. Sure people get pissed when they can't access your product as easily as they can buy Pepsi but that way you can keep up with the orders without people sitting around without their money in your product and no product to show for it in a reasonable amount of time.

Look at the good one man operations on here. They offer a batch, get the number of customers they can handle lined up, take in cash, send out product, and everyone is happy. Then they keep attacking their waiting list in the same order. It's not hard to do right.

At the end of the day I think Skygear was in it to steal the cash and run when he needed too. He only ran the business long enough to get a bunch of orders and then took off. Given his criminal history he sounds like a guy who is willing to steal or help whenever it suits him. Classic psychopath.

Perhaps he is lucky that no one pressed charges or prosecuted him.

I am not a lawyer, but I am guessing that taking money for products and/or services and skipping out is not good on the law books.

He's already been in trouble with the law more than once. I doubt he cares until he's in court.
