I'll be doing that when I'm back, same with the headliner and doors probably.

I love my new truck but miss my Tacoma
I have enough to do the doors but I was waiting to do that when I installed the speakers that I got at Christmas. I just recently recieved my amp, speaker adaptors and sub box that I had ordered in a while ago.

Make sure when you do it that you do the back wall too. That made a big difference in my truck.

Sure does. Did my back wall when I put a molle panel back there. Changed the sound of the truck, for the better. Then I did the same thing Rob, added new speakers and added deadener to the doors. Real noticeable difference in noise reduction.

Oh you got the molle panel too! I have yet to put mine in, how do you like it so far? I need to source more molle bags to hold the stuff I carry behind the seats still. I heard there's a small vent hole back there that needs to be covered up or something?

I'm assuming you drove an automatic, and not a manual. I really disliked the automatic I drove, and after seeing the dumpster fire that is the 3G section, I avoided the automatic like the plague.

I have the whistling, it's the one annoyance that mine has. I only have 2,300 miles on mine, so time will tell if I have the differential issue that apparently everyone in the world has expect me (again, see the dumpster fire 3G section) but I truly like the truck. I can't deny that the motor does feel like a step down compared to the 4.0L. The driveline feels similar to the 22RE on my 93 as far as being a bit thrashy. Maybe the automatic is different, but the throttle response isn't linear on the truck. I don't find it to be a step down from the 2013 in terms of cheapness feeling, but my standards of what is cheap is probably skewed (the nicest quality interior I've owned was my 1990 Honda Accord).

That being said, I do think the interior is nicer than the old ones. I feel like the seat cushions having slightly less thigh bolstering in the OR models will be good in the long term for seat wear (mine were starting to show more wear than I'd have liked at 40,000 miles). The black headliner is a bit of a let down because it makes the interior feel smaller than it truly is, but the sunroof option is fantastic (and the main reason I went TRD OR over a more basic SR5). The infotainment setup is quite nice, and I do like having the nav. I know the average phone app is better, but I like being able to see the map to quickly re-route myself if I can. I also like the dash with the integrated information center. I also like that it comes with heated seats and mirrors stock.

I think I like the nose of the new truck more, minus the awful TRD OR grille, but I like the rest of the older truck better. I miss my old truck, a lot, but that might just be because I had it basically configured exactly how I wanted it.

Mine was under $35,000 with the premium and tech, tonneau and floor liners, excluding TTL. If you're ever in my neck of the woods, you're more than welcome to take it for a spin if you want to go the 6MT route. Given the issues with the 5AT I've read, combined with my honest dislike of the auto in my 13, I felt like it was a good choice for me.

I did get one. Like it a lot. Can't get to it easily right now. Car seats. But it is there when they come out.
There is a vent on the passenger side from what I hear. I didn't cover that. Too many plastic parts to move around. I find the noise reduction is great with just the back wall covered.

Don't cover that vent. It's part of the hvac system. You'll severely degrade the performance of the air conditioning

I really want to put since sound deadening in the fj. From others on the internets who have done it, it's supposedly a huge improvement

It really is a huge improvement! I looked back on my receipts for materials and realized it was a little pricey, but I would pay double now after having it!
The thing I'm realizing is that I haven't done shit for stereo/speaker upgrades...hmmmm :spy:

This is the stuff I ordered:
    https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003TUNRGM/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I still need to order a top layer of foam but this one came with the roller which I heard made life a lot easier. Looks like I'll have a fun project when I get back. I need to paint my Molle rack still, I'm about 20% through deburring the sharp as hell edges on the cutouts... Sliced my finger really good picking it up when I first got it.

Yeah, crappy stock Dunlops. I'm sure an offroad tire or a LT-E rated tire would have held up a lot better.

Morning all. Have a second set of Dunlops that I got with the take-off steel wheels that I have my snow tires on. I'm heading out to have those mounted and balanced today but I'm going to be replacing them sooner than later. The BFG KO2 seems to be "the tire" but what about something less expensive, some of you guys are running the General AT2, right? Thoughts?

I had them on my taco. They were great on the road and in the snow. Good on dirt/gravel, not good for climbing rocks or mud
