Annual Runs?

Does TW do big annual runs somewhere? If they don't, I think they should. Maybe a 3-day weekend kinda thing.

Maybe Moab or the Sierra Nevadas for the westerners.

Back east, I don't know. Maybe you could take a garden hose and make a big mud puddle in someone's back yard. JK, maybe something in the Appalachians.

I know people do a lot of local runs. I was thinking something a little bigger. Sorry for another poll.

Sounds fun. Perhaps each quadrant of the country could get together.

For example, Arizona, California, Nevada, New Mexico. = TW Southwest Annual Trail Expedition.

Each year the event could be sponsored in a different state. So in four years I would have traveled and off-roaded in each state.

This concept is exciting and of course would require a substantial amount of time and effort to organize.

 

The only thing about this is it would e a big group and that would get hectic. Less fun the more you have.

 

I think it is a good idea, but I have to agree with the other JD, I can see it getting out of hand or just too crowded.

 

I wouldn't necessarily say that's true. Look at the Jeep Easter weekend in Moab. They have about 9 trillion attendees and they all seem to have a good time. I think it all comes down to finding a few volunteers to properly organize the whole thing.

I have been on a trail run with 12 tacomas and that was a little crazy. I like anywhere from 2-6.

Large organized events can be split into group runs which are more easily manged on the trail. Separate trails for different levels of desired difficulty or challenge.

 

I would be interested in a California, Arizona, Nevada, etc. meet.

 

Therein lies a problem. I'd certainly be willing to help but I don't have the skills, time, or motivation to tackle something like that.

It would not appeal to everyone. A huge event and a little local event are not in competition of each other. They would definitely have totally different vibes. Some would prefer one. Some would prefer the other. I think I could enjoy both.

That's exactly what I had in mind, but one for TW. The vast majority of us couldn't go past rails rated at 5 or 6 but that still leaves several options. I'm sure a measurable number of people would do little or no wheeling for various reasons. They could happily kick back in camp, drink beer, and meet new people.
