It doesn't look like you're running a spring on your CB antenna. No issues with breaking it? I have mine on a spring for some flexibility with tree branches, but I really hate how much it flops around on bumpy trails/roads.

i do not....i have the quick disconnect so i can get in the garage at the office and not hit...

im running the firefly antennae versus a firestik which helps out some with the flexibility. it's a thinner stick, so it flexes pretty well.

after seeing kayla's firestik on a spring flop around on the trail and in the wind, i switched her over as well to a firefly without spring.

per a local cb shop i go to here in denver, he said the firestik is more antennae than i'll ever need and the firefly is better suited for the use i need..

Thanks. I'll probably ditch the spring and see how the firestik is in the trees. I'll keep the firefly idea in my back pocket.

only trail damage...but turned out to be a big delay...kept hearing a rotational clicking...when i hit highway speeds it sounded like death! pulled things apart to find this little guy backed out....that explains the clicking!

unfortunately, the hub delay cut short my alternate route north, but i have a lot of unfinished business in that area, so it'll have to wait until another day...

Looks like you guys had a good weekend outing.

Off topic, but have you ever done Pearl Pass? Any comments if so? I've been looking into it a bit and am tossing around the idea of tackling the trail this weekend. Bushducks says it's been clear of snow since the end of July, but I'll call the FS to confirm when the time comes.

I ran it on the 28th and it was clear. This time of year, a snow storm could shut it down at any time though.

Check out James' report of getting snowed out trying it this time of year a few years ago: Can't Get There From Here (A semi-epic quest for fall foliage and high passes)

Thanks for the report, Brett. Forecast calls for zero precip until next Tuesday. Seems like a good time to get above tree line before we get some real snow. I'm considering hoofing it west Friday night, camping, then doing the trail Saturday. Undecided as to whether I'll stay another day or head home afterwards. Did you have another rig with you or go it alone?

lots of dispersed camping around taylor park res if you needed a camp slightly lower...around the NE corner of the reservoir there's some trails that network in a bit with tons of spots...not sure if you'll end up over there or not

One of the best loops in the state IMO.

And yep, leaves are just starting to change up here. Next couple of weekends are going to be the best for colors in the high country.

Welp, thanks again Brett . Overlooked that portion of the report and only saw Holy Cross. That thread (among other CO threads) has become a cluster fuck.

Thanks Bob:thumbsup: I've never been to Crested Butte, so I'm sure I'll be asking further questions once I finalize a trip out there.
