I know CAI's are an extremely debatable topic, with many a dyno run that shows they don't really net that much - if anything. However, we seldom rev through our rpm range a full throttle like a dyno run. Might it be possibly that they do enable a more responsive engine at light to medium throttle position and at the RPMs that we tend to run? These are the situations where it's difficult to capture quantitative results.

At light to medium throttle, the throttle plate is intentionally much more restrictive than the air filter or any of the piping up to throttle. Full throttle is where the best results should be.

Thread kinda died? Any of you that've have the intakes for a few weeks, maybe a few months, care to comment? Increase in power, increase in economy, what are your findings?

Really shouldn't be this long in the first place. Coming from a performance oriented forum before, threads like these are worth nothing without independent, back to back dyno runs. Generally I've found intakes, without tuning a car or running more boost (on a turbo/sc) really don't do anything but give you more noise.

On my previous car, running even k&ns gummed up my old MAF. Clean, dry filters were the way to go.

In my past experience, everything I owned with a V8 fell on its face off the line after installing an intake. My 2006 Rubicon 4.0 woke up big time after installing the intake though. When I sold it, I put the stock intake back on and that's when I realized just how much it really helped. I've had good and bad experiences with them.

All I can say is I like it and will hopefully like it more with the scoop. I will post after I get it!

Have any of you with the K&n intake have a pulse sound coming from the intake when you turn the steering wheel and the truck is stopped? I know that is normal that the power steering pump puts a load on the engine hence the rpm drop and the throttle opens but am I the only one with this pulse sound?

I haven't noticed that, but I don't know if I have sat and turned my steering wheel while in park. Next time I drive it I will check and report back. I am pretty sure that the afe doesn't do that. That's why we paid more for our afe intakes! Lol.:dancingbacon:

    Lol

Maybe its an advantage of a closed system like the afe.

All I need is for someone to tell me that his does it or that its normal so I can convince myself to omit the sound and enjoy the other things in life.

Hopefully someone with a k&n chimes in! It's probably normal for your intake.

Changing the intake would have nothing at all to do with the steering. More than likely it's just the sound the engine is making with a slight load on it. You just never herd it before because it was muffled by the stock filter box.

Ok, about $900! Wow! And effects the ecu. Need to see lots of positive before trying something like that. $69 I can chance! Just wondering if anyone has heard of someone trying one !

About $375 for the flash. I agree I want to see some results first though.
Trust me on skipping the tunesport chip. Save your $69

Yea, I kind of figured that! I didn't do any of my other upgrades on the cheap, so why start now! Have pay for an $1800 regear before I start thinking about any other mods! Lol.
