I like the sprayer! I've thought about making my own road shower similar to that.

 

The $7 fire pan.
They come in round and square with a small bag of charcoal. The legs/grill supports are the perfect rest for the cooking stick.
When the wind shifts just pick up the fire with two pliers and move it down wind. Of course it has a duct tape reinforced cardboard case (DTRC). This one came from Wally World.

Made one for my primary stove on an ADK backpacking trip. Worked really well.

Lid "hold downs". 1/2" dowel pieces glued in place with reconfigured mini bungees. Mahogany is not required.

I fill the bottles up and leave them laying on rocks or other things that absorb the heat. I've tried using something relfective to speed it up but I haven't noted a difference. It will get so hot the water is uncomfortable without anything reflective. The wife and I can take a quick rinse with just 4l of water if she doesn't wash her hair. 8l of water and it's like a full bath. If we are in the back country with no potable water source we'll use lake water or stream water.

Definitely a summer time thing but it's simple and cheap.

EDIT: I forgot to mention the straw kept coming out of the center of the head. No big deal as I only use it with the big 2l bottles so I just used some gorilla glue to make it permanent.

Also because the head portion is removable you have a nice funnel for filling the bottle. Perfect if you want to add your own hot water for a fast shower.

 

Road shower dry fit done! Wet test tomorrow. Fingers crossed!

One more cooler thing before next weeks contribution to the current "ABS accessories".

The lid of my medium cooler was hollow, no foam fill. Kinda strange with a supposed (and priced) "marine grade" cooler. I drilled some holes and filled it with the "foam in a can" from a local home supply. I picked the version with the max expansion ratio. If one goes this route, fill from several points on one side and let the foam travel towards the open holes at the opposite side. Be ready to plug the "fill" holes and mask around ALL the holes, that stuff will stick fast to just about everything. Finish with hole plugs, hopefully in the same size as the holes you drilled.
This did make a noticeable difference in ice retention.

Not much to see other than the layout of holes.

 

How does this operate? Is it something like @puddle discussed above with the six inch ABS? Something else?

Always interested in a road trip shower option.

Yup pretty much! I'm using 4" ABS to cut down on height clearance. 4" was expensive enough, can't imagine 6" being very economical by way of DIY money savings.

 

For the best/most efficient one search "fancy feast" stove. This is about all I use. That said, I'm no where near as hardcore as most on this thread.

 

Yes! I've been thinking about doing this exact same thing with mine. I have a Coleman Marine and the lid is hollow also which has been bugging me.

 

I forgot to mention, most of these foams are "moisture cured". I sprayed a few pumps of water mist into the lid. This helps to ensure all the foam fully cures and faster as well.
We have next to zero humidity here, Portland might be a different story.

 

Abstract ABS

I made this fellow up years ago. It's a human waste containment system known to the river running crowd as a "torpedo" (it likely predates WAGs). Some wilderness and similar protected areas that allow vehicular access require some type of "system". I have never used this but did have to show it to pick up a back country permit. These days we just pack the folding "Cleopatra's Throne" (with padded seat).

Anyhow
Thanks to Mr @puddle and @imtaconico, I'm thinking of adding a schrader valve for regulated air pressure and a hose/sprayer. As it sits, it's on the small side but the end caps are cam lock affairs with o-rings (RV stuff) so a refill would take seconds. One end already has a standard garden hose thread connection for the shower hose.

 

You are supposed to shit it that? Do you stick it in your ass?
