Look into either Bora or spidertrax spacers. Can't go wrong with either of those. Just be sure to check the torque of them every once in awhile and you'll be good!

If your going that route only get high quality spacers/brands. Don't want to skimp on something like this. I recommend Bora's or spydertrax. Would not go past anything bigger than 1.25"-1.5" as you will really put a ton of stress on other components. That said the best and proper way to go is get different wheels with the correct backspacing for what your needs are but spacers will do the trick as well.

So if I go with the 1.5" spacer is there a way to calculate how big I can go tire wise on the stock wheel without getting rub? I am looking at the SpiderTrax

Depends what the backspacing is on your current wheels! With spacers, the goal is to get the tire off of the UCA, so it all depends. With second gens, it's a 1.25" spacer to run 285s

my truck kinda turned into a work/pavement prowler/minor trail camping. But if the stress would still be too much for say, fire road driving, I may take your word for buying new wheels.

285/75/16 or 33" depending on your wheel b.s. and lift If you do not off road at all . If you do, there will be minor rubbing on the pinch weld in the front and mud flaps so you would need to remove those and bang the pinch weld down some.

Don't forget to put down a coat of anti-seize when mounting to the rotor/drum. I had the spidertrax on my new tacoma for less than a month and those things were a bitch to get off the rear drums.

I don't have any lift. I like the lower look. But now that I am looking at wheels.... I am looking to spend around 1200 on wheels and tires. Keep my current set for winter wheels and tires. Any suggestions on 17's

Not trying to be a jerk, just doesn't make sense to me. How can you fit 285s without a lift, just by using wheel spacers? Wouldn't it be 265s still?

If you order from discounttiredirect.com they ship for free, and if you get wheels and tires they mount and balance them for free

You can't, I was assuming since he asked how big a tire can he fit he had a lift too. So he is looking at a 31" tire I believe if he is still stock

Okay so I think I am going to go with a whole new set of wheels... keep the old ones for snow tires. So I am probably going to go with 17" x 9" and when it comes to offset... I kinda need a schooling on that also... so a negative offset is going to give it a sunken in look?

    https://www.customwheeloffset.com/tire-wheel-backspacing-offset-calculators

Play around with this. Enter the width and offset and it'll calculate the offset.

Let's say for example purposes the backspacing on your current wheels is 5", and they're 7" wide wheels. That means there's 2" of wheel sticking out.

If you have backspacing of 4" on 7" wide wheels, they stick out 3", or 1" further than stock.

So I am lost... sorry. How do I find the backspacing? My current wheels are 235/75/15 at 7"wide.

I would like to go to either 17's or even 18's if I can.

No worries. This shit took me forever to understand it. You need to figure out the offset or the backspacing on your current wheels. Do some searching around here.
