Does anyone that has a 2016 with a hood scoop have issues with it leaking into the top of the engine bay compartment?

I don't have the sport but I'm pretty sure the scoop is one piece and a non-functional air scoop. So water shouldn't get in there.

Yes it is non-functional but appears it is screwed in...I cannot see a seal or o-ring, but it sure lets water in.

If water is getting in, then that means air is too! You're probably getting an extra 20 hp! You should keep it the way it is :headbang:

Maybe if you add that hood scoop decal you can get an extra 30hp. So about 50hp total.... To the wheels

Yeah it's got room for future functionality for sure. There's a hole in the metal hood and a plastic insert for the scewp.

^Is this a new thing now, after the OR got a larger third member?
Water gets into the engine bay through the front grille anyway. As long as the air leak doesn't cause annoying whistle noises, it is not a problem.

Toyota likes to use top-mount intercoolers with diesel engines in foreign markets. Maybe that's the reason the scoop has a matching opening in the hood.

Realistically is a little water getting in on top of the engine a big deal? You know water is kicked up from the bottom through the front around the radiator when you're driving in the rain so what's the big deal? I'm asking out of curiosity, not trying to be a smart ass to the OP.

If the intake isn't hooked to the skewp why bother? It gets wet from all kinds of directions regardless

As far as a repair, if youre worried about it anyways, drill a hole in the backside of the scoop and attach a piece of windshield washer hose to it, then you can route that hose over to the side of the hood where it will drip onto the ground.

Water does not get in while driving; however if the hood is wet and I open the hood.... water then leaks thru the scoop and lands on the plastic engine cover... Doesn't really bother me though...

Water in the engine bay won't hurt anything, many people including myself hose down our engine bays when cleaning our trucks from time to time. You just don't want water in the air intake, obviously. I also usually cover the battery and sensors when cleaning the engine, but I don't see why a little bit of water would hurt anything.
