Is there a TSB for these squeaky leaf springs yet?

I went ahead and opened up a case with Toyota corporate and was assigned a case manager. I took the truck back to the dealer today and dropped it off and was told they wouldn't have someone in until Thursday to look into it due to the holiday weekend. I took their offer of a free rental (2016 4Runner Limited!) and I am waiting to see what happens next.

If anyone else is having the same issues I would suggest you call Toyota at 800-331-4331 and open up a case. Hopefully if enough of us do this they will address the issue and open up a TSB. I have a strong feeling that there is a bad batch of leafs out there and we were the unlucky ones to get them, as this seems to be a fairly rare issue in the grand scheme of things.

The real question here is, how is that four runner?

I love driving the 4Runner Limited trim, but I sure as hell would never buy one. For one, it just looks and feels like a upper-middle class soccer mom car. Not only that but the ground clearance isn't so great and there is no off-roading features. I would prefer the trail premium trim if I wanted a 4Runner, which I almost bought anyways instead of my Tacoma.

But I can't complain since I'm not paying for the rental....and it's the first time I've ever had fully cooled seats. That shit is no joke. Cooled seats FTW.

Well the warranty doesn't last forever. The slip pads on my he tips will wear out in time. As for the bushing squeak do your self a favor and look around and find yourself some poly bushings grease able bolts. Think of it as an upgrade and pat yourself on the back for fixing your own problem....

    Way to much...but not enough.
I complained about the squeaky springs today, they tried to make it stop and couldn't. I just got a call and they are ordering a totally new set to install. Whenever they get put in ill report back.

I had mine replaced weeks ago, from what the local engineer had said, they know its a problem and are working on a fix. The issue right now is, the new leaf springs put on are the existing stock that are causing the problem. When it starts again, ideally they have the TSB for it. It's costing Toyota a lot right now to keep replacing these things. The only problem I have right now though is my skid plate squeaking and grinding but I'm going to swap it out with something stronger anyways.

Ironically on my 10k miles service my service rep (dude is bad ass) asked if I "had the squeak yet" I said no.

Well we got back from a 430 miles offroad Texas trip. Lot of dusty roads. My drivers leaf is speaking now. Almost seems to be coming from the front bushing. I've got 12500 on her. If I can make it to 15k without going insane I'll let them fix it then. If not I'll keep you advised. Dude drives a tacoma, so he feels our pain. So far he had been great

Vandy09, was that service dept. in TX? I've got the squeak now, and I live in Dallas. Thanks.

Hey Kyle...what dealership did you go to? I'm in ABQ, too, and should call, complain, and see if they give me the line of "we've never heard of it" like they told you.

My wife's from OKC so maybe I could swing by there sometime if they get your squeak fixed. Thanks.

Hey Dan, I took it to the Larry H. Miller dealer on Alameda. They have had my truck since Saturday and I believe today the engineer/tech should be out to take a look. Where did you get yours from? If you are having the same issue go to the same dealer as me and ask for Andrew in the service department. He is working my issue and should be able to help you as well.

Got mine from the dealership on Eubank. The sales staff at the other shop really pissed me off but that's another story.
    Okay, thanks for the tip.

I haven't had the problem, but have you re-torqued the u-bolts that hold your springs to the axle?

I had about 1200 miles on mine and took it off road for the first time to a place with some mud but mostly sand. After I left it started squeaking. Sprayed it down best I could knowing about the possible issue but that lasted an hour until I hit a speed bump. I sprayed both leaf packs with a silicone spray and after a little driving to work it in the noise stopped. I'm at 2400 miles now and I have not had a problem since but also have yet to take it offroad again.

It's the TRD Off Road so you can't take it off road or it starts squeaking like a 1987 Dodge

Some of you guys are confusing the leaf springs with the possibility its a cracked bushing, thats what was causing mine, its back now.

A 2016 Tacoma owner on YouTube called "Taco Bandit" spoke about how he had the same issue and had them replaced at the dealership. I'd bring it to the dealer and see what they can do.
