So is there a scientific calculation how far should you mount an antennae in comparison to your radio to get good connection?

My fill up record is 19.93 gallons doing 386.9 miles. My mileage record is 423.1 on 18.34 gallons, but that was new from the dealer and I don't trust it, so the next is 420.7 miles at 18.51 gallons. I've had six tanks go at or over 400.0 miles.

They're called whips, and for a reason. Say goodbye to your paint. And your eye. And hello to tennis balls whacking your truck on the trail. And the metal twang from hitting branches on every tree you drive under. And the ping/sound of scraping metal because you forgot it was on there. And I'm only partially kidding.

Yes. An engineering one too. Actually, that's not quite accurate. The mounting distance doesn't matter so much as the cable length/type/quality. And the antenna location. Which has been discussed many times, but to reiterate, the best possible reception/transmission you'll get is dead center of your roof. But guess which location is the least common spot chosen...

Though the 8' whip works great for distance.

You need to get out and do a little more reading, I don't recommend reading anything from firestick. If you are faking your feed point resistance with cable length you have a bad antenna network. The correct cable length is the amount you need to go from the radio to the antenna, not the myth of 18'

it's the lake outlet for the Watson Lake fish hatchery. They redid the lake intake, (winter project) the outlet, (spring project) and are now in the process of replacing and adding more breeding tanks. This hatchery has been unused for the last decade or more. I'm kind of excited to see it running again. Yesterday was the first day in a year I've seen the water flowing again.

Very cool, is it ramping up just for Brown trout or Brookies too?

I assume Browns, that's what I caught in that lake in the past.
Long time ago, there were anglers covering every available space on the bank. Now there is pretty much no fishing going on, except for the river. Don't tell anybody though, it's kind of nice this way. :D

Looking for some help, Tacomies! There's a thread on here where a guy was making kits to turn the rear sliding window into a power sliding window, but he doesn't make them anymore. Do any of you have it?

If not, would any of you folks that can do electrical and fabricating help me power my window? I think he has directions in the thread, which I could spend the time finding if someone could help. I think the hardest part is getting a piece of metal fabbed. The rest, I think, can be purchased with little difficulty.

    Here's the thread: https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/benwas-2005-power-sliding-rear-window-quick-install-kit.171805/
