Morning everybody! Foggy here, too. Drove the '84 in this morning and was kind of regretting it on the flats by the lake because it doesn't have any fog lights.

Automatic, yes. I test drove a Manual as well but I ruled it out for the same reasons I ruled out a manual for the current Yota: first gear is too short to make it through a stoplight (unless you rev the nuts off it, lol) and 2nd gear is to tall to take off in regularly, same as the G2 (on the 6 speed TRD-OR, at least). I go through a bunch of stop signs/lights on my route to work and the 6-speed would be a pain. The Dodges are both manuals but they're old-school with low gear counts and wide ratios so it's not bad.

The interior on the '16 is definitely a nicer layout. I like the new setup for the switches and knobs all being in the center instead of having them split between the left and the right. Seems like it'd be a lot easier to keep track of what's where. And I agree with you on the seats. Mine aren't showing any wear yet and I don't mind the bolsters much because I'm a smaller-framed guy anyway, but on a long trip they kind of suck because they keep you from moving around much in the seat. The new seats feel more supportive and like you'll be able to shift around a bit on a trip.

Throttle response almost seems worse on the automatic, because you push through that dead spot in the pedal to get into the area where it's more responsive and the transmission throws a downshift at you. So you let off the gas, it upshifts, and you're back in the dead spot, haha! I could see why so many people run around in tow/haul all the time, because it does help out with that. Both trucks I test-drove had had the TSB flash done, too. Now, obviously it's a learning transmission so that should improve as it's driven, but it was annoying on the test drive.

My biggest hangup right now is the pricing. Charlies was willing to drop around $3k off of their ask price of $36k, but were only willing to give me $13k on the '10 in trade. I definitely wasn't going for that because they've got a scratched-up '09 4x4 BASE (not even an SR-5) on their lot with a 2.7 and similar mileage for $19k, so I know they'd have my truck priced even higher than that. So I walked and I called the sales guys at Emerson & Lee this morning, told them what Charlies was offering and said "what can you do?"

    So we'll see.

Ford's sales guy called me yesterday (again) too. Said they could drop the price on the F150 I was looking at by about 3/4 of the difference, but that they couldn't come up any on the trade. Told them that I still wasn't interested at that pricing and the sales guy asked me to 'be reasonable' and work with them a little, lol. Sounds like he's hurting for sales so far this month/quarter, so I think I might be able to wrangle him a bit if I go that route

I like them, mine are too wide for an accurate winter use but all around they do well in everything except sticky mud

Is the Cooper S/T Maxx in the same category as the BFG? Similar price, but I haven't had a chance to compare the two of them side by side since I have been on my phone this morning and not on the laptop yet. Just looking at the options for now.

Bfg has snowflake rating, st macx does not. However, most report st maxx does well in the winter

Not a huge concern for me, I have a set of winter tires on dedicated wheels.

I loved my BFG all terrains. But I think pretty much all the big companies make good tires now a days.

The only bad tire I can think of was the super swamped trxus tire.

Wanted BFGs until I saw the price, my parts guy got me a good deal on Dynapro ATMs and they are fantastic. Probably will end up replacing them with the same, but that will be a while yet. They're wearing well.

They do have the mountain/snowflake symbol but I can't vouch for their snow performance since I have dedicated snows on separate wheels.

I need to figure out what to put on my Tundra at the end of the winter. I am going to get the SCS Stealth 6s for it so it will need to fit a 20 inch rim.

    Oh man...
    :goingcrazy:
I might have just agreed to buy an F150...

    :bananadead:

Ford sales guy called and said that they were willing to drop to the price I was asking for on the F150, and they'd get within $500 of my ask on the trade for the Tacoma. Told them that if that was the case that I wanted them to throw in a spray-in bedliner at no cost. Guy put me on hold for about 10 seconds and came back with a yes.
Going over tonight after work to sign on the dotted line.

Changing the subject. Has anyone had any experience on wiring up a set of headrest monitors? I just scored a set at work. They are made by Vizualogic and the only wiring I have is a 8 pin DIN plug. It also had a tiny DVD player that I will not be using. Where can I get the wiring to go from a 8 pin to a regular RCA for the video input and to hook up the power/remote turn on? I find some but they all say they are "out of stock"

    Wow. Good for you

I'm thinking of getting Level 8 MK6 in gunmetal in the Spring, figure it will look good with the Silver truck.

    Yeah...
Never really been a Ford guy. Now we'll have two in the garage...

I honestly didn't expect them to do what I wanted; I was being (I thought) a little unreasonable with my asking price for the new one ($32,500) and my trade ($17k) for my current truck. But they did it. :notsure:

    DAMN YOU, @Pugga !
    You've corrupted me!

    That will look really sharp!
