True. They do a great job of warming your hands up on a cold morning (or when you're winter camping) though!

 

yep. that's what im thinking of. Im just seeing people use only them and I would hate to lose all that heat so quickly! no one like a cold cup o coffee!

but yea ive got an insulated little mug/bowl too. I was just making sure I wasn't missing something groundbreaking! I do like the enamel ones though for looks!

 

Honestly my coffee doesn't usually stay in the cup long enough to get cold when I'm camping. Usually I fill it halfway and it's gone (and replaced) before it's cold

 

Love me some backpacking gear.

This for a 2 nighter I did this past weekend. Total weight with 3 liters of of water was 21lbs!

 

I never seem to sit still long enough to finish an insulated cup before its getting luke warm. im always starting to do up breakfast right after the coffee comes off the burner.

 

wheres all your food?! youre gonna starve!

 

I had more food out of the picture but I only pack about 2000-2500 calories per day when I go back packing.

 

fair enough. I eat like a pig when im backpacking lol. we literally have to stuff our faces to finish the portions we make.

 

More food = more weight. I try to take as many things as I can that need no cooking and the only cooking I do when on the trail is to boil some water.

 

Where in Alabama? I'm from there originally.

As for food, I don't count the ca,or yes, I just take what I like to eat.

As for the cup, it's dual purpose backpacking and car camping. On the trail, coffee disappears quickly. In camp, it's savored.

 

Those little Knorr packet things are great.

 

haha that used to be me.... till the woman came along and told me "no more sad noodles" which im pretty happy with. we eat some goooooood stuff while backpacking. its amazing how much better some things taste in the woods. our staple is a pad thai stuff. weve also done pizzas and stuff like that. it makes me not mind the weight at all. plus, she does all the cooking out there all I have to do is play with fire

 

My GF was with me too, I think for me backpacking is way more enjoyable with out a heavy pack on. If I was carrying around 30lbs+ I would probably hike a lot less.

My 2-3 day pack is usually around 21-23lbs.

 

shes a pretty slow hiker so I never have to worry about too much distance being covered. otherwise id be cutting weight like it was my job!

I've had this insulated mug for 30yrs (I'm 46 now). It's my coffee at home on the weekends mug and my camping & hunting camp/cabin mug. It's insulated and keeps coffee hot for about an hour...plenty of time to finish it. An added bonus is that it holds a 12oz can, so it doubles as a koozie. It's been knocked over and dropped countless times...and not even a ding.
