How to use the AUX port on 2nd Gen Tacoma

So I saw this port in my truck. not sure how to use them. or what it does. can I connect my iphone to it

 

hahaha. yes! Plug your phone into it and select the source on your Head Unit. Turn the music up on your HU and press play on your phone. Bluetooth will do the same thing wirelessly.

 

really? do I need a special aux cable? I thought it would do what you explained but I tried connecting a cable to the iphone head phone jack and to the aux port. I hit play on the iphone music. then I hit the Disc/Aux button on the radio. I see AUX on the display but no sound at all.

 

You need a cable that has a headphone jack on both ends. One plugs into the jack on your phone, the other into the aux port.

Make sure the volume on your phone is up also.

If i dont hear music then I will press play and hear music out of my phone first and then plug in the headphone jack and double check the volume.

 

That should work. Make sure the volume is turned up on the phone, also.

Do you have a computer with speakers? Typically there is one of these cables that your speakers use that you can test with.

 

thats a good idea. I will check if I have old speakers with any cables.
