I just installed some HIDs from TRS and noticed the lights will turn off and on fine when the truck is started and the parking brake is engaged. If I disengage the parking brake the lights turn on immediately! Is this a safety feature? If so can I disable the auto-on? I can't remember if it did this with the halogens. Do your lights do this? I read some Toyotas have a positive ground (whatever that is) which could cause problems where the lights won't turn off. Is that a possibility?

My Wife's 2007 Rav4 does that exact thing. I know of no way to disable the DRL's.

Mine did the same thing I think it's because the hid lights are connected straight to the battery. They are not connected to the kill switch when u open the driver side door.

That's not normal for a 2000. I believe some double cabs of 2001-2004 have DRL.

It might be a 2002 actually. I can't remember. It has the square-ish headlights.

Not just double cabs, my 01 extra cab has DRL's come on as soon as my parking brake get released as well. Not sure how to go about disabling them but maybe check some wiring diagrams if you have access

So your title isn't correct. They do turn off. Either by shutting the vehicle down or engaging the parking brake, correct?
