Would that mat help lower the noise level in my trail rig? all I have is the sheet metal floor, no padding or carpet so I hear everything, it gets loud in there.

 

Sounds like pretty much anything would lower your noise level, then.
Is the trail rig road-legal?

What are you getting for $32,500?

I'd love a Supercab lariat with either the 5.0 or 3.5 EB and the tow package, but I was thinking I'd be around $40 for that. If I could get that for low 30s right now I'd have to do some serious thinking...

 

I really like my Michelin AT2s. Mine are 275/55R20.

I think thats what my stock tires are. They have over 50k on them and should last through the winter.

I think at that point anything would make a difference... I have seen people rubber undercoat the floor area and then put sound deadening around the doors, upper panels and it helps.

What I want looks like a $4-$5k premium above that, so back to the original plan--hold onto my Tacoma for 4-5 more years.

 

Might want to look into Rhino Liner if you went that route. More durable than undercoating spray.

I had considered the 3.5 or the 5.0, but I don't tow a whole lot of weight or very regularly, so the 7500lbs the 2.7 is rated for should be plenty for me. And if I need to tow anything truly heavy I can always just borrow a diesel 3/4 ton from one of several relatives who own one, lol.

 

My thinking is I've been right up against the 6300 lb limit a couple times, so I'd rather have the extra room in case I need it.

The trailer I have access to weighs almost 2700 lbs on its own, so that takes away a lot of capacity right away.

 

The Torque & HP curve on the 3.5 TT looks like it would be a great puller. If I could find one with the configuration that I want, I'd be a convert too.
