I actually was very impressed with the 2.7. I was expecting it to be kind of a dog, a motor that size dragging around a full-size lump of truck, but if you didn't tell me that it was a 6 I'd have thought it was a V-8. Then I looked up the numbers on it and found out that it puts out around the same as the top-of-the-line 5.4 from the previous generation.

    LEEEEEAAANNNNNN!!!!

Alright lady and gents, i could use some help on this one. So in the next couple weeks I plan on adding in some new fogs behind the grill and also an OBA setup. If anyone has done this can you tell or even better show me what wire to tap into to get switched power?
When I originally added my bumper fogs I tapped into the marker lights, for these items need to find a more suitable location.

so is the 'Italian Tune Up' a real thing anymore or are engines smart enough to not burn so dirty? I ask because I have the 3.5 Ecoboost engine and know that babying them can lead to carbon buildup. Would having a little fun every now and again reduce the lifespan of the engine, or would it help keep the cobwebs from forming?

I know I am not dealing with a rotary engine so I am not redlining it every time I am in it.

I do it now and again just for the grin it puts on my face, I have no idea if it doesn't anything for the engine. From what I've read and seen, a catch can is a good idea for your truck. Overall, I would say the Italian tune up is not a real thing for a fuel injected vehicle.
Switched power depends on what you want to add as the switch or trigger. Personally, I use the marker lights for that because it means you can't leave accessories on without the truck being on unless you intentionally turn them on. I use the tap from the marker lights to go to the switch, then from the switch to the trigger side of the relay. I tapped power from the pin located in the under hood fuse panel. At the passenger side of the under hood fuse panel, there is a threaded stud, that is power from the battery so you can tap from there to power the accessories.

Thanks Mike, someone once told me there was a pin/wire to tap off of in that fuse panel but I can't remember where or even when it was referenced they even posted a photo which I'd love to find. I've got a blue sea fuse panel which I'll power it from. Now I just need to track down which pin it is.

Why do you want switched power as opposed to going to your aux fuse panel? I always wired to my aux panel because I liked being able to have them on without the truck on.

That's how I have my CB run - plus having a PA with the truck off means you can scare the crap out of people in parking lots...

By pin, I mean it's a bolt sticking up with a nut on it. That bolt is bolted to the bus that powers the whole fuse panel. Pop the fuse panel cover, you can't miss it. If you want raw power, direct from the battery, that's where you should get it.

Well...now that you mention it, I guess I could run the compressor off the auxiliary fuse box.

I liked the idea of not touching the factory wiring. The only downfall is if you leave the compressor on, you end up with a flat battery. I had enough wires running through the firewall that I didn't want to run anything I didn't have to. The hole is really small!

That is exactly why I run everything off switched power. I want all my accessories to turn off when I turn the truck off. I usually tie them to a marker light so I can always just turn those on to liven up the accessories easily enough. A compressor is one thing, you'll hear it if it's left on but lights can easily be left on during the day and go unnoticed.
