Tried to figure out how to run lights off my door switch but I'm stumped. Looked at the the dome light/interior light in the overhead and i can't figure it out.

If they're like the 2nd gens, the dome light runs off of a switched ground. You give your lights a constant hot, and tap into the dome light ground. Then your leds will dim on and off with your dome light. I've thought about it too because it'd be great to hit unlock on the fob and have the ground light up.

You can pull the door switch out and tap into those wires. Run that tapped wire to a relay and have that power all the other lights.

I believe the guys that installed the ones that do the Toyota emblem on the ground under the doors used the dome light circuit. You could do the same for whatever you want to put there.

Use lights like these. Mount one under each door. I like the idea of dome light. Cause when u hit the unlock button it would light up the ground before u got to the truck. A relay with their own power and fuse would be best.

More like should be required. Those are 18w lights and running those off the stock dome light is a bad idea.

That even comes with foot well lights. Not a bad price either.

I'd love to see the pieces in the kit to see if they could be adapted to earlier Taco's.

    Nice find!

whoa. I didn't realize this wasn't a standard thing. My truck came with the LED puddle lights from the dealer!
What is really cool is that they come on automatically when I get near the door with the FOB. Yes, when I walk up to the truck, they come on when I am about 6 feet or so from the door. One of my favorite features.
