im the second owner and love it to death, but i've always loved the 2nd gen body and the extra room it offers. im also looking into the less superior 2005 frontier because they look VICIOUS lifted.

I think you would get more at a private sale than from a dealer.

As long as you're upgrading (at least in your mind) you're good.

Try to privately sell it on Craigslist. And go as far west as possible. Resale in California and Arizona for first gens are ridiculous.

I recently sold my 02 for my 2014 and couldn't be happier

There are days I miss the 02, especially in the woods but ultimately I'm very pleased with my newer truck

And yes private party sell the 1st gen if possible logistically

I sold my 02 for almost double what I was offered in trade

Can confirm: My Tacoma gets a note stuck underneath the windshield wiper at least every other month asking if I wanted to sell it. The market for trucks in the SF Bay in insane. There's a dealership by my house dedicated to selling those completely OP lifted 'luxury' Ford F150's.

You're prepared to lose all forward visibility below eye level, right?
That's been the hardest thing for me since swapping my '01 for a '15. Can't see over the durn hood.

you have to do what makes you feel good otherwise you will just keep questioning yourself. I switched to a second gen and was alright for a bit (6 months) then I ended up picking up another first gen so now I have both for the moment. I should have just stuck with the first gen as I would be in the same place I started but with more money. Good luck on what ever you decide to do.

He'll be dead one day. At least he'll have the truck he wanted while alive.

I went from a first gen DCSB to a second gen DCSB because I needed more room due to a baby. Loved the first gen, but don't regret it at all, and the 2nd gens 5spd auto is more ideal the the 1st gen 4spd. However, the first gen is definitely more ideal on the tight mountain trails.
