Welcome bugs, cig butts, small bits of paper/plastic and leaves............at least that's all the Volant skewp did. Does this one have anything on front to keep any of that stuff out of the filter box?

I noticed this the next day. I parked in my parking spot at work like normal. I moved the steering wheel a little before shutting off and heard the thud. At first I was wondering if I had messed something up in my steering so I turned it back and forth and it made it every time the engine went under load.

Same day, went through a drive thru and when I was beside the building, every time the AC compressor kicked on, it made the same thud. Got home, lifted the hood, ran the AC until the compressor kicked on and the sound is coming form the intake. When the engine goes under load, it creates a thud sound from the air being sucked in. I guess with it being an open system, maybe the plastic intake tube makes some strange sound. Never heard it on any of my old cars in the past with metal intake tubes.

Thaks man! I thought I was the only one since nobody had noticed it. My OCD was getting the best of me. Now ill just omit the thud and enjoy the intake.

No problem at all. I actually took mine off. Just a little too loud for me. I tow regularly and I can imagine this will get very loud while towing and sitting in high rpms half of the trip.

That air scoop looks like all it'll do is suck in radiator heat.

Got home, scoop was waiting for me! Install was a breeze! It goes across the whole radiator! Bigger than I imagined, but seems to be designed very well! Just took it for a short run, but I think I am going to really like! Now for the new gears next week! And tomorrow morning the 5,000 mile maintenance which is basically nothing, but they are going to check my tranny fluid for me and reset the maintenance light.

I've put about 50 miles on the Taco since I installed the scoop. Seems to be the same as before install. Not surprised by that. It sits on top of the radiator so when your moving forward your getting air directly through the grille. I don't see where any debris will get in there. If it ever did you will see it in the inspection window of the air filter box.
As far as sound goes it's about the same. Very quiet normal driving but loud when you put your foot into it. I like it and it will stay on. On a side note... I had a Magnaflow cat back on for a while. It was so loud and droned so much sometimes I could not hear the aFe intake sound over it. The Maganaflow is off and the stock exhaust is back on.

It's hard to make a V6 sound good, let alone a small V6. Hopefully someone will eventually make an exhaust worth installing. Haven't heard one I like as of yet.

I have the afe cold air intake with the scoop which I just put on last night and also have the MagnaFlow Cat-Back exhaust and I think it sounds terrific! I guess everybody has there own ear of what they like! Obviously it has some sort of drone at cruising speed but if you didn't want that you should not change out your exhaust. And when you get on it, it sounds super great as far as I am concerned!

Order the AFE for $297.50. Did a chat on autoanything that got it to $382 I think. THEN I entered my discount code for signing up for emails and it brought it to $297!!

I installed the AFE intake and scoop yesterday. It sounds really good, but it seems to be so loud at around 4k RPMs that it is vibrating something really loudly in the dash. Has anyone else had this and figured out what is vibrating annoyingly? Its not a huge deal since its only at higher RPMs, but it would be nice to fix.

The plug cancels all the vibrating at high rpms. I was worried the scoop would create the vibrations the non plugged intake has

I was driving without the plug, now I have the scoop. I haven't noticed it. Will check next time I drive it.

I installed mine on my 2017 today. 86 miles on the odometer isn't really enough to give any input on seat of the pants power gains over the stock intake but it is noticeable louder. I also added the scoop with a 5 Layer oiled filter, Install took me 28 minutes from start to finish with a beer break in the middle.

We do still have these in stock and ready to ship, PM me for TW member pricing.

    Just thought I'd add in my 2 cents; I have a 4x2 SR5 V6.

I installed the AFE CAI first and drove with that for about 2 weeks before installing the scoop. I could tell a definite difference in driving with just the CAI (no scoop) - a little jumpier at the low end and mid range acceleration picked up as well. It is a lot louder at higher RPM's than stock - but I think it sounds good. After adding the scoop the "jumpiness" was even more pronounced at the low end, low end acceleration seemed to get a boost more than anything else. The sound is slightly muted at high rpms with the scoop - still louder than stock, but more quiet than the intake sans scoop. All in all I think it's a worthwhile purchase - faster, louder, and haven't seen any negative effects on gas mileage. It also looks pretty cool under the hood.

Odd how low rpm feels to be improved when free flowing intake helps most at high RPM where the stock intake may be limited.

Quasi ram-air scoop requires high speed to theoretically provide a little positive pressure to the intake, not low speed and rpm.
