Finally got a Tacoma. Why no Intermittant wipers?!!

No height adjustable seat on any Tacoma. For that mater no power seat on any Tacoma.

 

I know, and I think it's borderline absurd.

 

Yes, because it's really hard to reach down and have to pull the seat release, lol.

 

We're talking about raising the seat. ;-)

Ahhhh, OK. Yeah, I really couldn't care less about not having power seats, although it probably ought to be an option at least.

 

I don't think I have ever driven a car that did not have intermittent wipers. I LOVE my Tacoma but cannot believe how cheap Toyota is by not including certain items on these expensive trucks. I cant understand why my wife's much cheaper Corolla has a lock on the gas tank door but my Pre Runner SR5 does not? Or a light around the ignition switch so I can see where to put the key when its dark outside, or automatic door locks when the vehicle begins to move. These features were all included in my highlander but not on my more expensive Tacoma.

 

Really absurd not looking into these things before making a major purchase?

 

I didn't even think of it, just assumed. But no matter, bought the delay switch and tossed it in myself.

Mine is a single cab and I generally believe less frills the better so no issues, but that was one thing I think most would not expect.

 

I have a base model tacoma 4x4, same here NO intermitent wipers and NO cruise control

I have to say the simplicity of my truck is what drew me to it. I came from a fully optioned Silverado that was literally falling apart after 5 years and 60k miles.

 

Agree intermittent wiper switch is an easy upgrade. About a 1/2 hour job.

Got mine from Dallas Parts for about $85.

Cruise kit is available from The Cruise Control store for $214 including the correct side cover. Be sure to use the correct "brown" harness. One fits the steering column plug, one does not. Use the harness that matches the pins on the black ground harness and the green cruise light harness.

Install is a bit fiddly, the wiring harness pins are very small and if you have old person eyesight and thick fingers like me, it might take a while. Figure a minimum of two hours unless you have done it before.

Save your self some time and do both upgrades at the same time, that way you only need to dis-assemble your dash once.

If we are complaining, about cheapness on 2nd Gen Tacomas, how about that horn? That can be fixed also...

 

I have a 2007 standard cab, 2WD, auto. I just did the wipers using 84652-04141.

 

It is disappointing Toyota decided to cheap out on some things. Guess that is part of the marketing strategy. My 92 is bare bones, with power nothing...manual crank windows, seats, etc, but even it came with intermittent wipers. I also purchased the replacement control form TRDParts4U and installed using instructions on this site and a video on YouTube. I checked a few salvage yards first, but gave up and purchased retail.

You get a lot of truck for the money with Tacoma. They put their effort into building quality fairly basic trucks instead of running the costs up with useless frills. There are a lot of things that I have to buy that I don't want in order to get into a Ford, Chevy or Dodge. The lack of such things is what I like most about Toyota. I can adjust my seat manually, once done it is there for months unless someone else significantly larger or smaller drives it. I can tap the wiper switch every 10 seconds too.
