You ought to put your wedding photos on something less likely to degrade, like an actual external hard drive. Flash drives and I don't get along because I've had them randomly delete things, or had stored files get 'damaged' somehow.

Speaking of first world problems, I spent last night getting the silent treatment from the GF after I told her about my vehicle trade-up. She got mad that I'm trading my Tacoma for a new truck (and a full-sized, at that) and said that I shouldn't be doing it because it's not practical.
Me being the goddamned Dr. Phil-style relationship genius that I am laughed at her and said that it was hard to take a lecture on buying a practical vehicle from a girl who bought a Mustang for her DD in a state that's honest-to-god winter for 5 months out of the year.

I also pointed out that the F150 will be safer, quieter, have a larger cab, be more fuel-efficient, has a higher payload and a higher towing capacity than my Tacoma, but she was pretty much done with the discussion at that point.

 

annnnnnd my trip to atlanta just got canceled. fml

 

Reasoning with them when it comes to cars just doesn't work... Wait just about any topic applies the same.

This is my quandary presently. A promotion to the next pay grade would put me as salary. Cutting out early in this place is just not an option from the many I know who do that job unless it's dire. It would probably work out I'd make less per hr than I do now, even though right now I do 1.5 times my expected work.

Not that it is an issue anyway, promotion around here isn't gonna happen for me no matter what I do or how well I do it.

 

I have the wedding photos on my external HDD, a DVD, and old laptop and the flash drive which is in my fire safe box in my house. I like having multiple backups of my important data, but what I'm trying to recover is my spreadsheet collection where I do all my budgeting and financial tracking.

 

Meh. She'll get over it. I was annoyed more by the hypocrisy she was spewing from every orifice than by her being upset. I spent 3 months saying "whatever you want to get, honey, you should get" and "whatever car makes you happy is the one you should buy" and then I get flak for picking one out for myself, lol.

 

We had agreed no non-essential purchases while going through a refinance a few yrs ago. I am the worst at that..she never spends money.

A week later she buys one of those faux fireplaces for about 300 bucks. I liked it too of course but she asked what was wrong and I said "I thought we agreed no non-essential purchases" and she stormed off. The next day my brother in law was over and she made a big thing of saying "oh he's mad I spent money on that" Yeah FU

 

guess i'm glad i'm single haha, this sounds like a lot of work

 

Headaches too..I waited till he left and then told her you wanna throw me under the bus you tell the whole fkn story..

 

Honestly, the GF is usually pretty reasonable about this sort of stuff. But for some reason with this she's really being kind of a bag.
