    Hey folks,

No big deal. But I've read ALL of the cabin noise posts I can find and couldn't find anything about my specific one.

It's a metal on metal tapping noise... it sounds like it's coming from the rear passenger side seat area. I've tried everything. It's not the seatbelt tapping the plastic, it's not a latch from the seat back or bottom, it's not the compartment under the seat latch and it's not the seat buckle hitting anything. It's not in the door (as I've shaken it)... not the tool kit or jack under the seat. I can't for the life of me figure it out and it's starting to drive me nuts.

It seems to show up after I've been driving for a few minutes and only during odd vibrations or bumps... not every one.

But what the heck is it? I'd love to fix and forget it :)

Edit: To save you time, it ended up being an incorrectly torqued - passenger side - cab mount. Video of sound found on page 3.

Have you had someone else drive it while you crawl around trying to pinpoint it?

Hey thanks guys! Not the driver seat and definitely from inside the rear of the cabin.... I will have my wife drive it and jump back there. We've just both been working a lot and haven't had a chance to do it. Ugh, and it's annoying me in the meantime.

Leave a banana on the back seat overnite.... Might be a trunk monkey.. Kiddin'..
Does it happen with the seats up and also down..?? I'm thinking loose bracket for seat latch, maybe?

I'd empty the entire rear of the truck and see what happens...ie:.. the under seat stuff/behind seat stuff, etc.
    Good luck..

Truck is 4 days old... never had anything under or behind seat or in the back yet.... Crap, hope it's not a loose latch. But I guess that's easy...

My next guess would be the doors... ride in the back over some bad bumps and narrow it down... better you do that then the guys at the dealer... IMHO

Do you have anything in the pockets on the back side of the passenger seat? What about a blown speaker or loose speaker wire in the rear door?

Thx everyone. I can't imagine the speaker would be blown... I've barely used the sound system and never turned it up (because I've been listening to the truck). It doesn't sound like it's from the doors as I've been opening and closing them back and forth and it isn't making the sound... only when driving and only certain vibrations or bumps... tap... tap.. tap. Inside the cabin. So weird.

Nothing in pockets. No one has ever ridden in the backseat yet.

I used to have this problem in the past. It was the bottom of the seatbelt being loose and rattling on the mounting post for the belt. Drove me crazy until I realized I had some slack at the bottom portion of the belt allowing it to pivot on the mounting stud.

Hey everyone. Got the wife to drive it and I sat in the back... it turns out that I don't think it's interior. And it's turing into more of a creak than a tap. Is this the leaf spring thing everyone is talking about? I have under 100 miles. Is there video of the leaf spring noise anywhere that I have missed?

I tried and touched everything. I had the seat folded down and it sounds like maybe underneath... or maybe between the bed and cab... creak, creak. Only at certain angles - but most noticeably when slowing down or braking actually.

Even with my ear down on the floor and all over the rear I still couldn't find exactly where it was. With the door open the sound didn't get louder either...

And then it went away for five minutes. And then it came back... better than worse.

What the heck is it? It's now officially driven me nuts.

Next step will be to grab a creeper and lay down on it under the truck and grab on and have the wife drive around with you under the truck to localize the noise. ;)

Jk but my guess would be exhaust heat shield
