Finally had my fill of the transmission issues and traded in the Tacoma. Went back to a Subaru Outback, which is what I had before the Tacoma. Obviously two totally different vehicles, with their own distinct strengths and weaknesses. Got $34,900 for my trade in, which blew my mind since I only paid $35,800 for the Tacoma (before tax, etc, TRD Sport 4x4 DCSB). I obviously chalk it up to a lesson learned and paying the tax again on a new vehicle was a tough pill to swallow, but it is what it is. Will miss being able to put my dog in back and separate from the cab, but am looking forward to filling up less, getting better MPG (especially around town, which is where the Tacoma was an absolute TURD) and a smooth, reliable transmission. Ended up with a fully loaded 2017 Outback Limited. Payments are a bit less, got 0.9% financing and it will be paid off before the Tacoma was supposed to be paid off.

Best of luck to everyone and am jealous of you guys who are enjoying your trucks and are issue free. Guess I just wasn't one of the lucky ones.

Man I am really happy for you! I am actually thinking about doing this myself. Never thought I would have this many problems with a Tacoma...

How was negotiating price on the Subie?
That's the next car, never owned one before so not sure how their pricing structure works or how it fluctuates.

If you don't mind? Sticker price and what you negotiated down to? Can PM if you want.

Pretty much wanting your exact model, but on the fence with engine size and if the issues have been solved with the 2.5 redesign.

Congrats man. So you don't get sales tax credit on your trade in? Like you only pay sales tax on the difference between your trade in value and new car price.

I hope you have better luck with the subie. I've been tempted to trade my vibrating taco in too (for a non vibrating taco, hahah)...
