Sand in the tank, headlights, or electrical issues, the saga continues for the 4th time? (10/9/18)

He didn't want me to say anything, but I know you guys really want to know what happened, so I'll spill the beans. Hopefully AFMurse won't be mad at me.


So here's what happened:

Mike Sweers himself showed up at the dealer to carefully review the case and inspect the truck. He turned around and looked at the techs and the service manager with this expression:





Without a word he took out a length of fuel line with a seat belt bracket tied on the end and held it at arms-length to the side. He then proceeded to open up a gas tank of whoop-ass while screaming "REPLACE THE GOD DAMNED HARNESS YOU DIPSHITS!"

Moments later, he wiped the splattered blood from his face and shook his head. He looked over the moaning carnage on the floor, stepped forward, and violently chucked the seatbelt bracket at the window of the General Manager's office. Glass exploded across the office like a grenade in the bottom of a plastic 5-gallon bucket filled with diamonds (or cubic zirconia, not that it maters much when there's a grenade involved; shit, it could have been ice for all that it matters). The seatbelt bracket tumbled to rest on the GM's desk. With shaking hands, the GM gingerly picked it up and saw the inscription:

Do NOT Fuck With

The GM lifted his head and gingerly held it out as if to return the unwanted reminder of his dealership's failure. Mike stood there with this look and said:



"Keep it."

And turned and walked out the door.

As the door closed behind him, he caught while it was still open a few inches. Without turning to look back, he said in a low voice:

"I sincerely hope I do not need to come back."

A race prepped Tundra pulled to the door and Ivan Stewart jumped down and said: "Screw these guys, the girls are hungry."



The front door closed and the GM watched as last bit of broken glass from his window crashed to the floor.


Tomorrow AFMurse picks up the 4Runner Trail that he's getting for the same payment as his Tacoma.

No. No real updates. I have been at work again so I can't answer my phone, even if they did call.

They called me today. However given my job and it's nature, 930 at night is the first time I've looked at my phone since 4am.. hopefully tomorrow I can get a phone call in....

 

You will not believe this.


They claim that my @TRSAndrew HID plug in play kits are causing the issue. The Toyota engineers apparently were tossing different things out there, and the harness for the lights, when getting wet it puts the ecu into shit mode. They were able to replicate the problem apparently and are certain that it's the "plug and play" lights.

Any of y'all Toyota techs, or TRS folks aware of this?

This is quite infuriating.

 

Do you believe them?

 

Make them show you that spraying water on it causes the issue.

Sorry about all this op...but this is going to get interesting....

 

I've seen a lot of weird noise induced problems in my career (industrial, not automotive) and I believe it is possible. Given the high stakes, I'd want them to do a demonstration in your presence using water.

What a pisser if it's true.

 

I believe it...seems easy to troubleshoot.


My aftermarket radio in my Accord was draining the battery because it didn't shut off even though it looked powered down when car was off. I know that is not the same thing here.

 

That's really crazy, what could the ecu be seeing from a headlight that would cause it to go crazy?
Hopefully that means Ez fix!
