My replacement stereo has since gone bad. I reported this to the dealer back in October, and they ordered another replacement. The head units were apparently backordered. I just finally received it and had it installed yesterday... 3 months after reporting it...

All the complaints about the radio, why are you not stating which version you have?

Do these complaints include the JBL 6-Disc player?

I had the same issue with the volume while trying to play my iPod. I did a little research and found the factory Aux input is attenuated. This apparently is a safety feature AC Delco (the radio manufacturer) includes so someone can't overload their P.O.S. head unit. After all the B.S. I've had with the factory unit, I did myself a favor and installed a Clarion double din head unit and couldn't be happier with it.

As far as your other question...No, if you replace the factory receiver with an aftermarket, you wont be able to use the Toyo's aux input. However, your new unit will most likely include one that is NOT attenuated so you should be good.

THANKS for posting up that audio level adjustment document, BPachom! I'm definitely going to try that first thing tomorrow. I have a 1-hour commute and listen to a lot of podcasts on my iPod. I usually have to max out the volume on both the iPod and the factory radio to be able to hear it well at highway speeds. If the podcast is recorded at a slightly lower than normal level, I can't hear it well enough at all. I sure hope this fixes it.

By the way, the factory radio is made by Delphi, not AC Delco. After several acquisitions & mergers by GM, Delphi actually contains what was once Delco electronics - but it's been Delphi since 1997 really. See THIS Wikipedia article if you're curious.

    Either way... it's a GM-tainted POS.

oh yeah. it took them almost 3 months to get it in. I heard here on TW that the stock taco radios are manufactured by ACDelco. Imagine that :p

OK, I tried this and couldn't get it to work. These instructions specify models TOYSC1 and HONSC1. Mine (base single-CD model) is model AD1807.

Has anyone gotten this to work with the base radio?

I guess I'm just going to have to break down and replace the POS with something decent.

    Raven,

My radio is the 2009 stock, single disc CD, AM/FM and this worked for me for both Sirius and my IPod.
Not sure what else you can try

Same here. It may do better in colder temps (which we've certainly had the past several weeks). I bet it gets worse when the temps go back up.

The volume control on mine still stops working every so often - but a good whack on the dash above it usually brings it back. Sucks to have to do that in a 1-yr-old truck. This is my second factory radio by the way. There won't be a third.

I can confirm, the JBL 6-Disc players are made by Panasonic, at least according to the label.

I don't care who manufactured it - toyota shouldn't use poor quality products anywhere on there vehicle - what's worse is that the dealership wasn't going to do anything for me untill I contacted toyota's quality control center.... then all of a sudden the radio that they couldn't get in stock for me was there the next day... hrmmmm...

Extra lame that I had to go through all that - I don't regret my purchase but, I regret where I purchased it from (town and country toyota charlotte - I hate this dealership)

thanks for the link, but maybe i'm not doing something right, i couldn't get it to work. i don't have satellite radio. when i hit the am-sat button, nothing happens (stays on am). i have a trd off road with a single disc radio.
i must have the sat. antenna and radio functionality but no subscription or sat. receiver.

any ideas? that would be awesome to find something like this that made the volume louder.

    thanks
