Hide GPS Wires

Do you think this looks tacky?
I know you can harwire your gps, but I'm happy with this, what do you guys think?
Think I should hardwire or just leave it the way I have it?

I'd leave it as is. My gut tells me that you'll get board with it after awhile and want to toss in in the glove box for when its really needed. They are fun until the novelty wears off. Been there done that.

 

I'm in outside sales and have to go to new places almost everyday. If it were not for that, yes it would be in the glove box.

Yeah...I'm not a fan of where you put- Blocks sight lines imo. but if you like it there and you are happy with the way it's installed....Fuck what we think-It's your rig.

 

Does not look too bad. The lower connection to the cigarette lighter is cleaner looking than the top connection to the GPS.

What about mounting at the top of the windshield where you can run the power cord up the windshield post, under the roof liner, to the GPS? This would also be a little more hidden to limit the chance of theft.

I have my radar detector wired very similar...except its hardwired to the 12V accessory wire behind the headunit. I made a little notch in the middle of the radio bezel so the wire doesn't rub.

I was going to wire it like I had in my honda accord I used to have where the wire went up, across, down the a-pillar then behind the dash but the windshield isnt that tall in the taco so going down behind the radio looked fine to me.

 

Found this thread while trying to solve the same problem. I also found the 'mini B' USB extension cable online I need to buy once I see if I can find a way from the top of the dash to the bottom.

Any ideas people?

These things look pretty expensive. How does this thing work? Does it replace OEM head unit or something?

 

i would hard wire it (will only cost like 20 bucks MAX) and run the cable up the left pillar, then mount the gps on the left side of the truck. thats what i am going to do.

 

i planned to keep my truck for 10+ years, I put a 1" hole in the dash and ran the clear wimax usb, mp3 ministereo, gps and radar detector power cords through that hole. i have all the power connectors in the glove boe.
