In a way, I kind of hope so, because I know it will never be the same. It was my first brand new vehicle, only to be taken from me by a drunk driver. Not sure how much the damages will add up to, but I am really hoping they just total it out.

Thanks, Dirty. The pics don't do justice to how bad it looks. I tried to get damage of the frame, which is scratched up, and the wheel took a serious hit as well too.

    That suuuuuuuuucks.

I'm no insurance adjuster, but I reckon, unless there is frame damage I don't see, it's not going to get totaled. Good luck though.

Not sure that is all fixable, but i wouldn't keep it after the repairs

That cab damage and rear suspension damage will be the deciding factor. As it stands, you need:

A bedside, a gas door, a fender flare, a tail light, new rockers, rear cab corner, two doors, a mirror, leaf spring, tire, and wheel, plus looooooots of paint and labor. Thats a lot of stuff a dealer costs. It might just get totaled

Plus, there is lots we cant see

^^All the above, and there is always hidden damage. This is my first new vehicle too, so I can only imagine how you must feel. I truly hope it's much worse so it has to be totaled for you.

No, it will not be totaled. Just for simplicity of the truck was 30K the damage would have to 70ish percent depending on state so 21k in damage and if it was front end yes totaled side like that no it will be repaired and back on the road

I tried to get good photos of the frame damage, which consisted of scratches mostly, but they are hard to see. The guy I talked to at the shop said they have a way of measuring or weighing it to test frame damage beyond superficial markings. The wheel got crushed pretty hard too.

I know you hear this often, but you can't put a price tag on your health, while your truck can be fixed or replaced. Take care, Mark

I'm thinking the same. That's a lot of work to do on that cab.

    Hope everyone is ok!

Sorry but I don't think it will be totaled. No roof damage, no engine damage. Since Tacomas don't depreciate very quickly, it would take a LOT to total one as new as yours.

I know it must be pretty devastating, but hey, you are still alive and you are well enough to post on the forums. Things could have been a lot worse. Also, a good body shop can take care of that. If they dont, you can always bring it back and have any problems corrected. The drunk driver's insurance company will be responsible for making it right (if they have coverage). Do you have collision coverage?

Glad you're OK. Sadly, they will not total this. Demand the best shop in town do the work, then threaten to sue if they don't pay you for your vehicle deprecation value. No one does this and it's a simple fact that repaired (regardless) of the quality of work. It's simply not as worth as much as a similar truck that hasn't had damage.
