Cool, thanks! I have the ELM bluetooth adapter but it's not really doing it for me - I think a dedicated wired-in device is the way to go.

    slight revival...

I have the EM Plus 1.2

after actually using my eng temp reading while O/R in AL in the dead of summer and my buddies were hitting 250s *F (eng temp), I now want to add the trans temp also to it. I see the code posted on the OP, but dont know how to get tot his page to input all the data----->

How to I get to this screen? Does anyone mind takin a second to spell out what menu items I select to get there?

(I have a 2011 TRD Sport with tow package 4wd, if any of that matters also).

Thanks in advance! (I did google this and didnt even see it populate for TW, but im sure its here somewhere)

Another revival - can't seem to find a clear answer in any of the other threads.

Does the manual transmission have a transmission temperature sensor?

I'm trying to decided between the EM Plus (no trans temp) and the MX 1.3 (with trans temp). I don't want to buy the MX 1.3 if there is no temperature sensor on my manual transmission anyway.

To save you the time I already went through this thread and several other threads and it does not support manual transmissions. See the quote from another user in the thread. With that said go with the EM Plus.

Exactly what I was looking for - I skimmed this thread but must have missed that explanation. Thanks @vrun22 and @Jefes Taco!

I haven't had time to read through the whole thread, but I have a couple of questions. Has anyone found out for sure if you can get the UG to read both TC and pan temps? If the UG is only reading one of the two, which one is it reading?
Also, I was gonna order the MX 1.3, but noticed that they have the Blue, now. Can the Blue read tranny temps on the Tacos?

I went ahead and ordered an MX 1.3 and after a little research and some experimenting, I now have it displaying the Trans Pan and TC temps for my 2007 Tacoma. The UG as programmed only reads the TC temp. The TC will run a little higher than the Pan temp unless you are cruising down the highway with the TC locked, in which case the two temps will level off and read exactly the same. Cruising down the highway on my way home tonight I was seeing temps of about 133f with the TC locked (ambient temps ~75f) Upon acceleration from stoplights I was seeing temps at the TC of about 150f. I am seeing about a 20-30 degree (f) difference between the pan and tc temps when accelerating. I found the Scangauge II codes on an FJ Cruiser forum and was able to convert the code for the trans pan temperature reading using the instructions given in the box with the UG.
Now.... I'm sure you're wondering, what's the coding for the pan temp?
I went to the Mgauge settings and went to Mgauge 4, which is meant to be the trans display for Celsius temps, however the only difference between Mgauge 4 and the Fahrenheit gauge (Mgauge 5) is the output format. For F you need to have the output set to 10, and for C you set the output to 00. Go ahead and set the Mgauge 4 output to 10. Next, on Mgauge 4, change the RPos from 1810 to 0810. That's all there is to it!
OPTIONAL: You Can change the name on the gauges to reflect the Pan or TC temp. (See Pics)

Nice write up. Can you explain how the TC Lck up 1
    Gauge works? Thanks.

It displays a "0" when the torque converter is unlocked and a "1" when the TC is locked.

Is the MX1.3 the only one that will access transmission temps or will the Blue adapter also do that?

I believe the Blue will read trans temps as well. I decided to get the mx so I wouldn't have to have an extra phone or use my primary cell to view parameters. I like to keep an eye on things as I'm driving so I chose the mx. I did think about turning my old iPhone into a gauge though, I like that you can update the Blue without sending it back in.

I'll just leave this here for anyone that wants the Pan and TC temps for their 12-15 Tacoma (may work for earlier years, not sure when the coding changed). Myself and @JD'STaco got these codes to work on his 2014. If you want the codes for the older Tacos you can see my post on the last page. (Post #557)image.jpg

I should have asked in.my original post, but why is this important, and should I use up one of my coveted front page positions to display this info(both pan and tc)?

It's mostly only important if you tow or drive in heavy traffic with lots of stop and go driving. You want to keep the transmission at an acceptable temperature to ensure that it lasts as long as possible. If you are don't want to take up two spots on the main page, I suggest displaying the torque converter temp, it will be the hottest point in the transmission, and when you are cruising on the highway with the torque converter locked up, the TC reading will be about the same as the pan temp if not exactly the same. When the torque converter is unlocked it produces tremendous amounts of heat, especially under heavy acceleration or if you're towing a heavy load.
