After seeing the video, It looks more like an inexperienced driver, making a bad decision/not being able to properly judge speed/distance .

Dang!!!!! No question, it is totaled!!! Glad you are okay!!! That's what matters! Truck can be replaced!

EDIT: watching the dash cam footage makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up!

Which cam are you using? I need one...

Camera is the G90 model available on eBay and other places, pretty reasonable. With a 64gb card it was around $120 CAD, so you guys would probably be $80-90USD. My only complaint is that it causes some interference with FM radio so can't pick up weak stations with it on. My wife will have one in her car very soon, and family members will get them for Christmas or birthday gifts.

Thanks for all the kind words and support guys. I understand the comments of anger toward the other driver, believe me, I usually get rather irate when other drivers put me in a dangerous situation. I have no anger toward her however, it seems a bit odd, but I'm happy to be OK and that she's OK. I guess that changed my perspective a bit. I have a very hard time watching other drivers taking unnecessary chances since the crash though, please, take the extra few seconds to be safe!

Glad your okay! My first thought when seeing post #1 was that looked like your hidden winch saved you from more damage and if you had a plate bumper you would have done significantly more damage to the other car and the driver would not be so lucky. Thank God it was not worse! My 2007 got rear ended a while back and was totaled. I too counted my blessings that I was able to walk away from the accident.

    Same as everybody else...
Straight road, reasonable speed and fairly good weather and crap like this still happen. I'm glad that you and the other driver are okay, hopefully she has learned a lesson.

I saved one funny / sentimental tidbit 'till now - after I had been assessed by paramedics and given my info to the police, and nearly ready to leave, I noticed my grille emblem laying on the raised median. I was expecting it to be badly broken, but to my surprise, it was only slightly twisted and a bit scuffed up. I bit how I'm feeling right now too. I kept it as a momento to over 6 happy years with a truck that did me solid.

Truck has been declared a total loss - not surprised a bit. Hoping to have a payout early this week, but frustrated on how an insurance company can value a warn M8000 winch with a custom hidden mount and a synthetic line at $150 - so am keeping all that - my hidden winch mount is a bit bent but fixable, Winch looks to be OK.

I didn't see the video earlier, it looks intense.

Unless you purchased additional insurance for your winch, it is an accessory and not part of the factory vehicle, so it is not usually covered. Best option as you did is to remove and reuse or sell.

That would make sense if I caused the crash. In my mind, her liability insurance "should" be covering all the loss and injury to my and mine, but I guess that would take too much common sense.

No, you are correct. I was thinking about your insurance. Their insurance should pay for the losses they caused.

Even your own insurance should have to cover anything attached to the vehicle. Most policies with out anything additional cover at least $1000-2500 of aftermarket accessories.

Insurance covers everything attached to the vehicle, but has depreciation factored in, which for aftermarket accessories can be extremely aggressive (-50% the minute you mount on the truck...).

It's weird what things they count as part of the truck versus personal property. When I talked to my agent she said my bed cap counted as part of the truck, so could be replaced at full value, but only $300 worth of "personal property" was covered. Personal property includes winches and recovery gear, but not trail armour (unless it's sitting in your truck uninstalled lol.) I'm guessing a dash cam is personal property, too, unless you have a GoPro that utilizes the 3rd gen windscreen mount!:D
