Can't believe people are watching these stupid money grab games. I have no interest. Didn't even know it was on till a buddy texted me last night while I was camping.

 

I watched team North America the other night and it was highly entertaining considering it was an exhibition game. I missed the game last night but Im gonna try to stream the USA Canada game tonight when its on at 7.

 

All top sports are a money grab. I don't understand!! You're not going to watch a tournament with overpaid millionaires, paid by overpaid billionaires, who all work for an incredibly overpaid organization......yet you're going to do the exact same thing, once the regular season begins??

 

I'm not watching because I'm not that interested. I'm actually sort of pissed because if the world cup succeeds in drawing good numbers than you can kiss the NHL at the olympics good bye. When there are medals and real country teams on the line, ie the best of the best from every age in a nation, than I'm more interested. This tournament not so much especially since it will likely kill off the only international tournament of best on best in Hockey that we have.

If anything I may tune into the finals, and review the stats just to see how Matthews did. That's about it.

What happened at the end? I see there was 6 penalties at the 20:00 of the 3rd period.

Well shall see. At least the IIHF was marginally involved in the tournament planning which hopefully means that this is a part of what they was to do versus all the NHL wants to do.

Without argument it's clear that the NHL and the NHL team owners are tired of sending their top players to buttfuck nowhere countries only to have them get hurt or worn down right before a potential profitable playoff run. They want insurance and a payout of some sort from the risk they are taking at the Olympics and I can't see how the Olympic committee or the IIHF giving the NHL anything at all. If the situation doesn't improve there is little point in the NHL continuing at the Olympics. In particular if the NHL feels they can give the international audience, that they are trying to lure in from such events, a tournament that they will watch and pay the NHL for in the forms the NHL is used to from traditional hockey markets on their own then the NHL won't allow players to go to the Olympics. The NHL only went to the Olympics to grow the game internationally and if they feel they can do that more profitably themselves then we will lose NHL Olympic hockey which would be a huge blow to Hockey Canada and the sport in general.

Just caught the OT in Can vs Russia ... awesome ending and good to see some hockey. Doughty was logging some important minutes I see, so good to know he's ready for the upcoming season !

OK I'm finally over last season and ready to be disappointed again.
