If that link is broken for anyone else, here is the video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XcjT-46Kw9g

Also, does anyone have any actual evidence about bad things happening when driving in heavy snow? I have googled a lot and have found answers ranging from "It can't hurt" to "I just turn it sideways". There doesn't seem to be any real good answers.

Either way, I am excited and we only need a few more people now!!!

More shit then I ever planned on doing
You also have to remember real world scenarios. It's not everyday your in dust the size of kitty litter. It would be interesting to see this demonstration done with a finer powder. :notsure:

I agree it would be interesting to see that. For most situations the Airflow head will be just fine. I will also be getting some kind of waterproof cover for when I'm parked and it's raining and/or snowing like crazy.

Finer particles will be more easily thrown out. I believe that was the point of using that heavy of a grit. Rain is not an issue for the normal snorkel head.

I emailed Airflow about using a different head/filter sock and this was their response.

    "Hi Rob
A pre cleaner / Filter sock is detrimental to the airflow.
It slows down the air flow drastically
Slower air speed stop the air ram from separating out the contaminates
At freeway speeds 100 to 130 Kmh /60 to 80mph is when the air ram is at its created efficiency
Separating out approx 97% of contaminates
Its at lower speeds where the throttle is open but the forward motion is low.
that is where the separation is lower 75% / 85%
    I don’t recommend filter sock.
The only type of separated is the Donaldson type.
This will how ever lower the vehicle performance."

I once wasted 850 on a saw to make 3 cuts one day and yet I still debate on 500 for the snorkel
