Popped on my OME CB spacer kit, vibes around 55km/h are gone, and the shudder from a dead stop is very nearly gone but not totally. I want to remove the top overload leaf spring from my Dakar packs soon though (to get rid of some rake), so I'm banking on that solving the issue. And now I finally have my excuse to buy a torque wrench, haha.

Also popped on some AVS in-channel visors. I dig 'em, they look a bit cleaner than the kind you stick to the paint or whatever.



Now I'm going to clean up and drive her over to the driving range to hit some balls, very badly. Haven't swung a club in at least 4 years. And then get to the car wash tomorrow!

Decided to forego my last free oil change and do it myself. 2 five quart jugs of mobil1 $23 each and will take advantage of the $12 rebates. Toyota filter of course. Last trip to the dealer the tech said I only have 8/32nds left on my tires. Had the manager measure my KO2's that only had 8k miles on them knowing what he'd find. Figured if they can't measure a tread I don't want them changing my oil. So much easier with the filter up top than my first gens where you strain to reach it through the wheel well.

 

not trying at all to be a smart ass here but weld and fabricate for a living and i'm trying to figure out what took him soo long. you had already done the partial chop all he had to do was fab the plates and weld.

 

Dude try a silverado or tahoe or yukon with the 5.7 , even worse if 4wd as the filter is directly above the drive shaft , which 1 makes it hard to grab and 2 coats the shaft in oil every oil change. Might be good lol idk

the last 1 i did was on TACOfms truck it took us 5 hrs but cut the cab mount face all the way back to the frame and cut the end of the cab mount all the way back to the access hole underneith then i fabbed all the plates, welded and boxed the assembly, and ground smooth. it seems though that the gentleman that did the welding was a strait up guy though only having charged for the 2 hrs which at most is all it should have taken. so doesn't really matter otherwise if he'd have charged for 3 1/2 hrs that would be different

 

Idk much about it to be honest. In my mind i figured weld it on and grind and paint forgot about prep work

 

the prep work isn't bad. depending on how much chop you want to do pretty much make your cuts, grind the paint off around the cuts, cut your plates, and weld. we did put the front of the truck up on jackstands and remove the front wheels. the typical cmc is like the 1 posted minimal cutting and fab work and works great for making room for most tires until you reach the 34" or larger diameter check out TACOfms build page, page 34 post#662 there's quite a bit of difference but i fully boxed the cm

 

Well for one he was being very cautious about catching the body mount on fire, so he was going slow and doing little 1/2" stitch welds. I'd rather be safe than sorry when it comes to catching my truck on fire.

Two, he spent a good deal of time cleaning it up and making all nice and purdy, which is another must for me. Could it have been done faster? Probably. Do I really care? Nah.

Plus it was raining decently hard on him, but he was out there anyways laying in the muck because he knew I was going wheeling tomorrow and I preferred to have it done today, even though I told him I could bring it back in a few days

 

your absolutely rt it doesn't matter how long it took and as i said i wasn't trying to be a smartass or anything i was just curious. it appears he did a nice job and your happy that's all that mattters

 

No worries man! I get what you're saying. I was under the impression it'd be quicker too, but whatevs. It's all done and no worries about tire rub, so I'm glad about that.

 

what size tires were you clearancing for i've had 285's and 255/85/16's on mine with 2 1/2" lift and cleared the cm

 

285s. It was more of a preemptive thing as I did all the cutting before I even got the tires on there. I hate the idea of rubbing.
