Has anyone heard of upgrading Tacoma rear drum brakes with Tundra drums?

In my limited 20 minutes or so of searching for info on how to upgrade rear drum brakes, I've read that rear disc conversions on out trucks are very expensive and complicated.
So I thought, "why not use Tundra drums if i want to upgrade my rear brakes". But I havent found any info on how to do it.
Are Tacoma and Tundra rear brakes the same size or something?
Has anyone tried this with any sucess?

I've read about it on the first gens but it was on another site, I just don't remember which one. One guy said it worked good the other said it wasn't worth the headache for the payoff.

The rear brakes on the Tacoma are huge, if anything just tune them up, I can't see where there could be gain by upgrading to Tundra drums, and a disc upgrade will be very expensive, I would only upgrade to disc if I was going to use the truck in a competitive racing application.

I could be remembering this wrong/thinking of some other vehicle, but I believe the 1st gen Tundra drums and the 1st gen Tacoma 6-lug drums are the same size (11.61 X 1.99; 5-lug Taco's have 10 x 1-31/32), so I don't see any inherent benefit to the swap?

Swapping the Tundra 13WL calipers/rotors up front, however, provides a significant improvement. From some stuff I've read, around 25%.

The only problem with the caliper swap is going to a larger size wheel

To me that would cause major problems all my Toyota 4x4 vehicles use 15" wheels making all my tires able to be used on any vehicle

This is true. The 13WL conversion requires at least a 16" wheel. I have 17" Tundra wheels, so it's no problem. If you want to keep 15's on all your trucks, then that in itself is a non-starter. I'd recommend some new OEM rotors, or perhaps some slotted (not drilled) aftermarket ones, some quality brake pads and steel braided lines. That should improve brake feel and performance without changing the size of the components.

I was just making a general comment!!

It would not be fun to do the swap only to find out your wheels no longere fit after the fact.

Some might never even think of that
