I'm glad I didn't go, I knew it wasn't going to a good venue. It was more of a gimmick game than anything.

This is the best part of them playing at Bristol.

 

Ok, let's review:

Bad call on the officials? Absolutely.

"National" implies a contender for the 4-team playoff and OkSt isn't even a top 10 team this year.

Had they been a top 10 team, OkSt wouldn't have been in the "situation" of having Cent Mich within 3 points at the end of the game.

The area itself is beautiful, arguably the best part of Tennessee.

Not sure if I'd want to watch a game there, but I'm sure it was fun.

 

How about that performance by Kalen Ballage last night. Tied the NCAA record for most TDs in a game with 8. Texas Tech beat down but the Sun Devils.

 

Obviously teams are capable of playing up or down to an opponent. After the whooping app St put on you guys, I figured Va Tech would run all over you. It didn't happen. That's unfortunate.

UGA played and beat a good UNC team. Then possibly should have lost to a not so good Nicholls St team.

This is why there shouldn't be a poll until 4 weeks into the season. I still have faith that Kirby can right the ship and change the culture in Athens.

But, your arguments about blowing and sucking and dog turds are very compelling and show that you really know your football.

 

Everyone kept saying that you might as well watch it at home on the TV, but the stadium had 4 screens that were 68 feet wide so it was the best of both worlds. Got to experience it in person and watch it closely.

Also, probably one of the most patriotic events I've ever seen/been to. 157,00 fans belting out with Lee Greenwood was amazing. There's a lot you couldn't see from home

We beat a better team in App state than you did in Nichols.... Whatever it is

I'll agree we're not a top 10 team right now. And we'll fall in the polls just like UT did after they (should have) got beat by app st. Tennessee was overrated at 9, too.

App state went 11-2, with a majority of their wins were blow out scores i.e. 40+ points on the board.

Nicholls went 3-8 last year and had two games which had ZERO point on the board and all others were under 30 points.

Nicholls were only 2 points away from a tie/OT with Georgia, a well known, tough SEC school.

I'd have to say App State is not even in the same comparable realm as Nicholls.

We have a tendency to just assume because a team isn't a part of the SEC, ACC, Big 12, etc. they aren't any good and should be kicked around because an AP ranked team is playing them.

There is one thing I can see though, Georgia should have been knocking around a 3-8 team regardless if Georgia is even in the top 50 teams in the nation.

I completely agree. It should have been a blowout. Just like Clemson should have blown out Troy. But you can't tell me Tennessee shouldn't have blown out App St. yes, app st is a good team in their conference. But, Tennessee has consistently had top 10 recruiting classes the last few years. That means they have some of the best players in the entire nation, much like Georgia. What kind of players does app st get? Not top rated D1 prospects.

It's football. Any given Saturday, anything can happen. None of these teams are as good or as bad as they showed to be in 2 weeks. I fully expect us to have 2-3 losses this year, with one of those losses probably being Tennessee. We have a lot of questions marks, first time coach, 18 yr old QB, weak O line. A lot of potential, but as my high school baseball coach told us, potential just means you ain't done shit yet.

Let's wait and see what happens next week when App state plays #25 Miami. Then we'll reassess which win was more pitiful
