What Have You Done To Your 2nd Gen Tacoma Today?

I have to do the same thing. Now with the Pro grille on you can see the radiator, a lot, and looks "bad". What did you use, just some high temp spray paint?

 

Greased my u joints and changed my relocated diff breather from the Toyota part to this:


It should be well protected behind the tail light and is a true breather. Perfect fit, 5/16 push in

I've been thinking of taking the white off of my mudflaps - did you use anything to take it off with or just scrub it?

 

Bleach white tire cleaner and a brush

 

Knocked out two mods on my 2015 TRD sport. GNTX-455 Mirror and the Boot up image.

 

Did you have to buy a temp sensor or did the mirror come with it?

 

Bug shield, vent visors, a bath, and a wax job. That is all.

Thanks man! Yes I finally spray painted the thing after several failed attempts at wrapping it.

 

Got some rear smoke LeD tails and plastidipped my rims. Going to add some decals in a bit, in between football of course
Edit: got to do my 3rd brake light now, guess I will have to pain it myself

 

Mirror came with a sensor which clips into a hole just above the other sensor in front of the radiator. Bob's kit includes wire loom also to protect the wires in the engine bay.

Did the ultimate headlight upgrade today with Osram 80/85 W bulbs. Much brighter from what I can tell, I can't wait to try them out tonight. I forewent the wiring upgrade as by my figuring the stock wiring should be plenty to handle the increased power.

Power = Voltage * Current

Voltage = Rated Voltage for Bulbs = 12 V
Power = 85 W

85 W = 12 V * Current -> Current = 7.1 A, well within the threshold of the wire used for the headlights (which I lowballed to be ~18 GA) as well as under the stock 10 A fuse installed on the headlights.

However, that's at 12 V; our vehicles' electrical systems usually produce about 13.8 V while running. We need to calculate the running resistance of the bulbs to predict the current draw at this voltage.

Since we've figured that the current draw at 12 V is 7.1 A, using Ohm's law (Voltage = Current * Resistance) we can calculate the running resistance of the headlight bulbs as such:

12 V = 7.1 A * Resistance -> Resistance = 1.7 Ω

Then, we use this resistance to find the current draw at 13.8 V:

13.8 V = Current * 1.7 Ω -> Current = 8.1 A, which is still well within our margin. Also, after installing and letting the lights run for a while on high or low beams, I can't feel any noticeable temperature increase on the headlight wiring.

 

I took the screws out and the plastic pegs. Was able to tape the radiator and get a can in there enough to get it done. You can move the grill enough once it's all loosened.

 

Wouldn't you double the wattage for 2 headlights making it 170 watts or 14.2 amps?

As far as I know each circuit has its own fuse.
