Just surprised because I have the 2.7 as well and I drive it like a race car and my oil has yet to get that dark.

Besides hauling a trailer with firewood a few times and about 50 truck loads of firewood with it and numerous other things in the last 11 months. Already rolled over 17k today.

My experience as an Industrial Mechanic tells me that if Toyota says 10000 miles, that what it should be. Toyota puts additives and detergents in the oil to aid in proper break in.
There is a tow truck company here in town that has F250 diesels, they change their oil every 40000 km's, so about 25000 miles. These are high mileage motors. But one thing they do is change the filter every 10000 km.
Since I heard that, I've been running Mobile1 and changing the it every 100000km, but changing the every 5000km.

VW recommends 10k or once a year for oil changes using Castrol Syntec. Supposed to be a special "break in oil" from the factory. I put 100k on my first one and 150k on the one parked in the driveway doing only what they recommend, every 10k. Would think the Toyota is gonna be the same. I do drive 30-35k a year, so I've never worried about the one year thing
