have you tried talking to @HeadStrong Off-Road ? She won't try to upsell you. They sell that combo as a kit and I'm living mine so far.

"We do not recommend running the OME 886X coils with the Bilsteins since this is not something that we have test fit here. We pair them with the nitrocharger sport shocks for that reason." -Marie

"We do not recommend running the OME 886X coils with the Bilsteins since this is not something that we have test fit here. IF you want to make the substitution you can but we don't warranty the coils like we do the other ones." -Marie

She was very very helpful but ultimately recommended a different route.

Question regarding the OME Dakar leaf pack U bolts-Are the U bolts that I have correct?

I've got everything installed and torqued, but the nuts are flush with the U bolt threads. I do have a 3* shim installed each side, but even before I put the shim in, (just finished today), the U bolts threads were flush with the nuts.

I bought the OME lift kit through the GB. Kit came from Low Range Off Road.

Does not look right to me. I believe you should have some thread sticking out past the bolt.

My bolts are considerably longer. Also using the 3* shim.

I cannot wait to join the ranks. Id like to get one of these (complete OME kit, Nitrocharger, Dakar leaf) on before the snow falls. Also tire/wheel upgrade.

Seems like most people doing this have the 3.4l 6 cyl but i was pleased to spot a couple xcab 2.7ls in this thread so i hope they will chime in.

Still just wondering what would be ideal for what I do with the vehicle. I know the great minds here will help steer me in the right direction as well as justify my desire to make my shit more rad despite the drawbacks.

DD with occasional offroadin'/fun in the snow and generally shitty roads here in Maine.

    • 2.7l 4 banger
    • will have an fiberglass ARE cab high w/rack on pretty much 24/7/365 - bout 150-200lb
    • Rear steel plate bumper/hitch from RelentlessFab (when it gets here in like 6 months ) - 80lb

I do carpentry work so off and on i will have some lumber aboard, table saw, chop saw, tools.

Was thinkin' i prolly dont need anything bigger than 265/75/16 for a tire/wheel upgrade.

Would the OME 881's be overkill? As i do not really plan on adding a steel bumper or winch and would like to keep my CV's intact.

Whether 880 or 881...would an AAL be a wise choice in addition to the Dakars?

Are bump stops/extended brake line a wise choice or necessity?

What lengths will my U-Bolts want to be with dakars and AAL? (i'll be flippin those as well)

I read over an' over that after a proper OEM install these girls ride great and sometimes better... id like that to be the case in this instance so i wanna git that shit as close to right on the first go.

It's only a matter of time...

Had my OME Daker CS047R installed and CB drop kit.i needed more stability in the back with the shell and gear. The AAL's were not cutting it. Thank's Jason (Speedfreak) here on the So Cal forum.
He does great work and fair prices. Also thank Marie @HeadStrong Off-Road.
885's w/ 5100's all around and Dakars CS047R's. Now to get dirty.......

So I gotta ask. Dumb question. Is there any way to get the front coil over assemblies in without unbolting the two swaybar to frame brackets? Mine are through bolted because the weld nuts broke off, and the holes have since been closed. I derped and forget to have a few tacks put on the nuts inside the frame, so I can't unbolt it anymore. Is it possible to make it work by just removing the end links and going from there?

Yea, you can just disconnect the endlinks from the spindles. You might need to relocate the swaybar forward after the install to keep it from hitting the coils, which would be hard given your current predicament.

hmm.... alright. might have to do something fancy afterword if the swaybar hits the coils, but i guess ill see. i dont offroad much if at all, so i might be able to get away with it until i can get some time with my local fab shop.

I didn't relocate my sway bar, no issues to report at this time.

You could always just remove the sway bar.
