If you posted a pic I'd have an easier time envisioning this. I have an auto so I'm not familiar with the "clip things" you are talking about.

Is your truck still under warrantee? Take it back to the dealer and let them deal with it.

Otherwise...nothing wrong with zip ties. Make sure you use BLACK.;)

Yeah...I'd take a run at the dealer for a fix. But my Scion has two zipties in the shift boot....It happens.

Warranty as said if your covered, if you dont like the ziptie route...On my old car, a black rubber washer, and some superglue on each side of the boot and shift knob. Strong enough to stay on while shifting, easily remedied with unscrewing the shift knob and a sharp razor blade.

I did something similar when I got a shorter shift knob:

I just used a nylon spacer under the shift boot.

i have an 06 exactly like yours with the same problem. what i did was take the wire in the shift boot and bent it out so it forces itself into the clips and it holds great i havent had a problem with it since

Just a few little things. It's my DD
if you can pop off the botton side then flip it in side out, then put a zip tie tight that will help. (if that makes sense)
