You misunderstood my statement. It was a sincere question because I thought maybe you knew. But if you want to be an grumpy ass about it then so be it.

    What hasn't been modified?
Sounds like it wasent crimped tight, or not enough wire crimped to hold, a pull of two got it down to just a few strands of wire causing a choke point that when all the power whent through heated up. Being that it's where the wire met the connectors do not the connectors pin area it was not the plugs fault.

It doesn't. You should have a minimum of 2 settings, I've not seen the dash controls on the 2nd gen...You may be confusing the term Recirculate with Circulate.
The AC system circulates cold air. The HVAC controls dictate if it's outside fresh or inside cabin.
But, there should be a MAX AC setting, for full recirculation, and a NORMAL setting for pulling in outside fresh air. At least that's how GM and Ford label it. The MAX setting is purely for maximum efficiency when cooling, doesn't have anything to do with defrost. In fact, it won't work on defrost.

When the defrost setting kicks on the compressor, it's running on the fresh air vent.
Yes, AC units help with reducing humidity, but it's efficiency is directly related to the relative humidity and temp. In certain situations, it will actually make it worse.

I can honestly say, I've not once used the AC in the winter and had never heard of this until the last few years.

Are you happy now? :) Dude, don't ask me questions that require thought when I'm at the bar, I'm there to look at boobs and drink beer and nothing more. Wait for the morning hangover, I'm way more friendly.
In Spicy's case, it's a matter of corporate Toyota in a big damn hurry to get something new out there without testing the piece of shit first. We can all recall the consumer reports articles about how Tacoma had become stale and Chevy Colorado was taking the mainstream, yada, yada, yada. Corporate said make it fresh, add useless gadgets without testing, because pretty dash lights and useless infotainment system.
I'll bet the thing never once saw the inside of wind tunnel.
No offence to Spicy either, the 3rd gen fiasco is well know at this point. I hope the owners get some kind of satisfaction out of them in the end

My guess is they are sitting in a storage unit or garage owned by @L3Goullon and will be picked up this Saturday by me :p

And you in turn can pick them up any time after Sunday 10am when I get back to Denver, or if you don't want to drive that far north I can bring them to work with me and we can meet up some time.

The same reason it died is the same reason I mangled it so bad getting it out. The guys at the shop were guessing rat but it was grey in color. The car must have been parked next to a dumpster because the thing brought a bunch of meat into the car. To date, the nastiest car I have had the pleasure of working on.

That pic was the topic of discussion Friday night with me and my hunting buds. We guessed rat, somebody's pet chinchilla, cat, squirrel was tossed around but the fur was the wrong color. Good entertainment though.

I just want to make sure it's fixed properly... The quick disconnect isn't really needed, it was just on there from when i originally used it as a portable unit.

Of course i have access now but it's not a bunch of room for soldering... Which is something i suck at.

And when i did the wiring, i did the 3x rule on amperage and length of wire on a wire chart, so it should be good? Unless the wire itself isn't as good as it should be.

Will something like this work? Then covered with a layer or two of shrink doohickey.
