That's a great tradition. I'm just discovering the Whistler awesomeness. We had a blast. Stayed at a local campground, and went hard on the lifts for a few days. The top of the world trail was incredible.

Yea it is expensive to stay in the village but every once in a while you can find a good deal and its a lot of fun. Its been a long time sense I've been there but top of the world isn't ringing a bell. I really liked hooking up freight train to A-line. there were a lot of others that i liked but mostly ripped those two trails.

Took the gravel bike up to Fife's Peak off of Chinook Pass in WA to grind up the road, and hit some of the ORV moto trails. Needless to say the motos were surprised to see a tiny bike ripping down their trails!

Assuming it's a mountain bike... I've put it in the bed 100+ times and have never had an issue even without a bedliner. It really doesn't move around that much, especially if u put a bag or two between the frame and the bed side. Even if it does get scratched, it's a mountain bike, it's meant to be scratched. The only real damage to watch for are things falling into the rear derailleur or into the spokes.

And don't forget a brake pad spacer if you take the front wheel off... Just in case something bumps the lever.

Iv read all of the thread and still trying to decide between a fork mount or a tailgate pad.

How does everyone like the tailgate pads? Do you notice if the pad scratches the paint underneath at all?

Do you find the front wheel and handlebars move or turn while driving?

I really want a fork mount but not sure which one. My truck is a lease so I really do not want to drill holes or anything like that. Some of the mounts are insanely priced.
Was tempted to buy the fork mount and make my own brackets and base for it but also worried that the base will slide around too.

Also what size pads did people find fit best. Some say large and some bought smaller.

Truck is a 16 Trd sport DCLB

$16 for T-Slot nuts(bed rail anchors) to fit into the $45 front bed rail(or side rails for no additional cost), $18 for a fork mount, and $3 for hardware to mount it.

that's under $50 for a fork mount (on a side rail), which can be secured with a cable lock.
is it annoying to remove the front wheel?.. sometimes. but all in all, its not that bad. $120 gets a decent hitch mount that requires no wheel removal. bed mats are comparable in price, and allow multiple bikes, side by side.

I prefer the security of the fork mount, it keeps the bike stable and upright, with an added area to "trap" the front wheel between the fork and bed-side when it is removed. I can transport other items in the bed and lower the tailgate without having to move the bike. It is also nice that my backup camera is not blocked by a mat.

Free campsite in Squamish, BC. Right in the heart of the mtb trails there. I did a lap right from my campsite before breakfast! It was magical. In other news: softoppers rock. Slept like a baby on a 3" piece of foam in the bed (thanks to @mattgecko for the fantastic functionality of the bed-rail lights, which worked perfectly at night in the softopper). During the day, I rolled back the softopper, making it that much easier to toss the bikes over the tailgate. Life is good.

Great photo & greak looking truck. It looks like you have 16" FN countersteer wheels on there? Do you have any lift? And what tires are those?

The cover folds just fine. I put some rubbers sheet at the D rings so it doesn't flop around or stand on its end when you flip the panel. The fork mounts I've got it off ebay for $30 and drill holes thru the cover. I reinforced them with a 1" steel tube underneath, which runs across both the folk mounts. Stiff as f$%K. Bikes don't even rock on turns.

Cover folds flat just like before. I can still use the safety straps

I put on some silicons around the holes. Water will never get in. I can snap some pics later.
