So...... about a week ago was putting on some extended brake lines. Stripped one out. The factory hard line that runs the length of the truck. I wrote about it and how bad it sucked on here already. Well, was double checking stuff out. The other side was totaly leaking!!! I am never "F" ing with my brake lines ever again!!! Just to be safe, when I ordered the drivers side line the first time I ordered the Pass side too. Thank god I did. Called up Wheelersoffroad.com and had them over night me another single extendy. Pretty much the last to weekends I have been laying in brake fluid under my truck. The lines I am talking about must have been one of the first thing they put on at the factory. Such a pain in the ass to get it fed through the frame and behind the gas tank!! Anyway, I hope no one ever has to do what I did. And a huge thanks to Wheeler's for selling me a single line and over nighting it to me!!!!!!!!!!

Welcome to the world of automotives & machinery. I can totally relate.

The other day (at work), I had some problems with air cylinders not working. I traced it back to a 6" piece of air line that had a 1" crack in it. It's an airline.... easy to replace (2 fittings & cut a new air line). Yeah....not when you have to take half the machine apart to get your hands in there to work on it. OMG!! Took me 2.5 hours and my hands were black as coal and my clothes were filthy!

    Yup.....its kinda like that somedays.

And did you get all the brake fluid cleaned up?? That shit will wreak paint and plastic if it's left there.

Might have been worth buying a shorty section of SS line, brake line flaring tool, and a quality coupler. You could have cut off the stripped end and attached a length of line to compensate for what you had just removed.

I know it's a bit late for the advice but it's an option if you run into trouble in the future. For what it's worth, your approach is the better one anyway. The fewer couplings in your brake system, the fewer points of failure.

Congrats on getting the job done. It's gotta feel good to drive the truck again!

See, when I stripped it the first time my buddy busted out his flairing tool and tried. But it just mushroomed the wrong way instead of flairing. thats what led to ordering new lines. Also, We were playing with the old lines and you can bearly kink these lines! We just about had to tie the line in a knot to get it to kink on us. GOOD break lines.

Ya, all said and done. After I bled my system I had my helper hold the break peddle down for like five min as I watched for leaks. No drippy drippy. Still keeping an eye on it. Might have to bleed them again. But as for the lines, they seem to be good. AND THEY BETTER BE!!!!!! Just replaced 75% of my lines with new shiz! lol. Oh, and a heads up to anyone else that want to put extended lines in.
The factory flex lines above the rear axle are side specific. the extended lines are not. the brackets that hold the flex lines have diffrent shaped holes for the diffrent line. While the aftermarket lines will fit the drivers side dedicated bracket, they will not fit the hole that holds the pass side. Save your self some swearing and take the braket off, get a little file, nothing crazy, and reshape it to hold the new flex line. just keep track which side is which. Oh ya, and don't over tourque shit.
