Sliders are excellent piece of mind. Truck looks great too by the way.

 

I have some places close to me that we can articulate the suspension and find the source of your squeaks. The clicking in the dash may be the duct valve attempting to move, try adjusting the duct position knob to find out where it may be stuck to eliminate clicking, maybe.

 

Sounds good, I really need to hot you up for that since the squeaking is getting worst and it's literally driving me nuts.

As far as the clicking goes, it only happens if you switch on the inside circulation. So I would assume it is related to that flap. Guessing it is behind the switch, since that roughly where the noise is coming from.......

 

Maybe something like a plastic gear has broken. Sounds like it is a PITA.

 

Maeh, trade truck for beer (probably needs to be lots of beer).

Will include fridge, dual batteries, onboard air and so on......

 

Just some food for thought brought up in the stalker thread. There's Cars N Coffee every second Sunday of the month near the Oasis. October 9th is the next on of those. It be cool to have a big showing at that one and we can officially have ourselves a Taco Meat. Anyone interested?

 

I'm in for that. Usually there every month (given fact I'm in town).

But I normally bring the garage queen, have taken the truck only a handful of times.

There was a really nice Tacoma yesterday. Got a Texas Overland decal.

 

I'd be interested in seeing the garage queen too.

 

At least that thing doesn't squeak......

Might need to convert it to the DD, due to constantly decreasing MPG's on the truck

I was at C&C yesterday. I would be down for all us to roll in together.
I am a admin on the ATX Tacomas FB page. I think that I am going to try and make a meet-n-greet event at C&C for the ATX Tacomas group.

 

Update breakage from Lubbock this last week:

• Power steering leaked out (is still leaking, can't find leak)
• Entire steering ram shifts slightly when steering
• Coolant has a slight leak
• Busted a front brake line so bad, pulled it and no fluid came out, and hardly any came out of the calipers
• CV seized up
• Shredded the spider gears
• One of my retrofits gave out
• Gas gauge doesn't read past 1/2 a tank

All with 31" tires, starting to have second thoughts on that Toyota reliability thing (retrofits are aftermarket but still)

 

Okay so I'm not a gearhead by any stretch of the imagination, although I'm slowly getting there... now for my question.

I changed my oil this past weekend, as I had done before, and was surprised when only about 5 qts came out after 5.5 were put in during the previous oil change. Now I had done some mountain driving in Colorado that span of about 4k miles, but I was still surprised there was that much missing. There's no obvious leak under the truck and nothing I immediately noticed under there when I was swapping stuff out.

Any good next steps on identifying the problem, or if there even is one?

 

To be honest, half a quart after over 4k miles is not bad at all. I wouldn't be worried about it.

Good example: BMW says 1 quart on 1000km is within the factory specs........

I'm loosing probably over half with in the intervals as well. Never measured how much exactly though.
