Waiting for an oil change and getting the run around on transmission TSB and saw this. Cool old school color combo and bed liner grill...just thought I would share.

Not bad looking but of course all the dealer "add ons" are way overpriced. Would rather get a TRD Pro for that price.

It is a brilliant marketing move on the part of the dealers. They have observed that a significant percentage of interest in the Pros is from people who like the look, have no interest in real off-roading, and are not intimidated by the price. They would sell them a Pro if they could get enough of them, but they are only allocated a few. To THOSE people there is really no difference as the perception is all they care about. Stick a few fake switches for a locker and crawl control and there is no real difference to them (I doubt that the person who buys this will add an aftermarket locker. If they were willing to mod a truck they would not start with this as a base). NOBODY is forced to buy these things and a real off-roader is not gong to be fooled anyway. Simply trying to match supply with demand.

There are several of these in the pipeline at my local dealer, zero Pros.

Now...to get busy marketing those fake crawl control and locker buttons....

This monstrosity is going to be bought by a rich parent for his 16 year old to impress his fellow students and perhaps use the 4wd to take his girlfriend out into the corn fields. He will be revered at his high school. For that purpose it is the perfect vehicle. Got to understand your market segmentation.

It should say "Colorado Eater" on the bedsides. With green accessory arrows to let others know you have accessories, cause I mean they couldn't already see them.

I don't get the stripes, too much like the German flag which makes 0 sense on this truck.

Somewhere between the TEQ and the bubble-T we know today, this was the Toyota logo. Retro nerds will know more than me.

Awesome, I appreciate the info. I am now a better Toyota owner with this knowledge, or at least I'm telling myself that.
