What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

my father works in autobody and he got some spray on tint that lets light through very well. kinda cool how transparent it gets.

 

But he says he only sprayed on layer of pasti dip. I'm pretty much everyone knows how hard it is to get pasti mist off in a hurry.

 

It has like 6 layers of the gloss coat, since I'm most likely going to get rear ended since everyone is talking about it I'll be able to get it off in time

 

brake cleaner and a microfibre. instant removal

 

I was just going off what Madjik said, if he were to get in an accident he could just peel it off.

 

Plasti dip is super easy to take off, I've gotten the mist on my paint before where it went past the masking tape. Just take a towel and rub it right off. Even if it dries, it just peels right off. Part of the reason I don't like using plasti dip is because of how easily it can be removed.

Now Herculiner......that's a different story. Took almost a week just to get it off of my hands.

 

thought id say through all the chatter i do like the way your truck looks blacked out. just get yourself some proper tint and go a little lighter. I know from personal experience that its hard to see through the dip in direct sunlight. could make your park lights into the turn signals also to keep the factory ones blacked out.

 

i was just saying if you got rear ended and had your taillight a blacked out, I would think there's a good chance the blame could shift to the dude with black tail lights, and you probably aren't gonna get them dip off without someone noticing that your doing it.

Yeah I wouldn't mess with covering your tail lights with anything, not only would that likely make you a cop magnet but it would surely put you at least some fault if you were to get hit by someone. Improperly functioning brake lights is one of the only ways you can be cleared of any wrong doing if you do happen to rear end somebody. Not to mention, I wouldn't want to do anything to my truck to make it more susceptible to getting hit by someone else.

 

I have a pair of black headlights on the way, I'll put a picture up when I put those in so I'm not known as the guy with dipped headlights lol

 

I was thinking of bedlining my headlights yesterday

 

What would you guys say is a fair price for a stock front skid? I really wish I had kept mine now..

Yeah saw that, $80 plus shipping. Guys crazy. I just need one for like a month until I can buy an aftermarket one.

 

If it's only for a month, so long as you don't do any off-roading I'm sure you'll be fine without one. Just tape some cardboard up under there if you're really worried lol.

 

Yep, that tin foil. My current sketchy bumper wraps down and under, the Trail gear I have on the way doesn't. I just need something to protect my radiator from debris on the freeway and dirt roads until I can buy a real skid.

 

At this point I just might.

I just gave my skid away. I got it for free so i didn't feel right to charge for it
