Do you mean the front as in the front axle? I was proposing that this model be used in conjunction with a flip kit, mounted to the frame landing pad, upside down.

Interesting "SD truck springs" website shows a sumo attached inverted to axle landing pad, but has model 610-40 for sale, it is a mistake but shows that some application has sumos used like this. Note that this sumo does not rest on the axle/frame constantly. see link below. P.s. these tacoma specific sumos are available for significantly less $, see 1st post.

Here is a pic of an unlifted tacoma with sumosprings, with 800lbs of wood in his bed- the sumo looks too wide to use inverted with a flip kit, it looks like the ubolts would chew the sumo up.

Dakar leafs in back, bp-51s all around. Need taller bumpstops to protect my shocks. Looks like superbumps flip kit may be my best bet, considering using some form of sumos as an alternative. Low range's flip kit with sumo is catching my eye, if the spring compresses 50% the standoff from the axle will be close to what the superbumps provide. Not trying to reinvent the wheel here, just interested in /trying start a conversation about an alternative.

Can someone with sumosprings please add measurements of the sumos to this thread please? Please include the measurement of the "landing pad" on top, also the exact diameter of the black plastic base if possible., thx, auggie @AR15xAR10

I just found these, ive been on the hunt for a sumo product that fits my needs. They are a new product as far as i know. They look like they might fit pre drilled/tapped flip kits. Also the bolt looks as though it is long enough to add spacers as needed to adjust height if needed.

Here is a u-bolt flip kit pre drilled for bumps, the pic does not show this, but as noted in the page, this kit is indeed drilled for bumps. 225$ total, flipped and bumped, a considerable savings over the flip kit linked in the OP

So dakar leafs provide a 2.5"+ or so lift. If sumos are adding 5/8ths inch to unlifted tacomas, we can conclude that a lifted truck with sumos installed can expect a gap of about 2"+ between the sumo and the frame. If i have 4" of downtravel that means the sumospring will be contacted at 2" of downtravel, compressing 2". But the sumo claims 80% compression. I'm going to guess based on the photo above showing less than 50% with a load of 800lbs, that is the upper limit with tons of weight on the sumospring. So it looks like with a moderately heavy load it compresses around 3" inches, leaving around 3" from the axle, just about right, perhaps an inch too short. . Would it compress to the point my shock is damaged? It would seem that most aftermarket bumpstops sold for tacomas with a lift arent much taller than 5" or so. Some are even shorter, before compression.

Maybe someone with the superbumps or timbrens kit could measure their total height? .

This pic shows my leaf spring to upper bump pad on frame, note that I have a camper shell and around 200 lbs of gear in the back, plus a thule box full of stuff too.

The way I took to understand the 80%, is that is the MAX compression and the foam will still return to its correct shape. Compress more than 80% and the foam integrity might fail.

You are correct, that model is indeed marketed by supersprings as a front bumpstop, link to that one here, I believe it is 4" tall. It is used in the low range flip kit because the flip plate adds what looks like an inch+ or so. Wheelers reported height of their front bumps is 2 9/16". I think these would be too tall for use in tacomas front suspension.

Here is an older pic of rear superbumps. Are these tall enough to prevent shock damage with an 8" shock stroke length (such as 5100s, nitrochargers, bp-51s) when lifted with dakar leafs? It looks like the compressed height would be about 4" - 4 1/2".

It would appear from @Sandman614 's measurements, that the compressed height of the bump needs to be at least 3 3/4 tall to prevent shock damage

Here's my approach. Silverado bump stops at $55/pair and strike plates from an air bump kit. I don't rock crawl with this truck so no need for a ubolt flip

I thought of trying an inverted sumospring, but I felt as though the large round head would get chewed up by the flip kit nuts. It may have worked with these icon strike plates however. Great solution! Looks sharp, and economical, too!

Here's a link to the thread describing the GM bumpstop mounted to the frame solution-

I cancelled my order and am reconsidering whether I should just order the standard sumosprings and see if they perform as a bumpstop for my needs...lol

I still consider a ubolt flip kit. Looks much cleaner and does give more clearance
