What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

Snap is pretty accurate actually. Tested to mph feature one day going down the freeway and it was pretty damn close

 

I have the rock lobsters hood scoop in my garage waiting to get installed some time.

 

Okay i've had this loud and very noticeable pulsating vibration while driving and can not figure out what it is. Whats the diff like when its low on oil? Anyone know? I'm at a loss on this one

I figured it was fairly decent, just was getting the blame off me just in case.

 

I just upgraded mine thanks to @RAT PRODUCTS... so $20 and you pay shipping and you can have mine. it is dented lightly in the corner but does not contact the radiator and still bolts up straight...

 

Haha, well if all goes well I hope I can find time in the next 2 weeks and have it done.

It was a lot worse, I kept sliding further and further off, getting more and more angles down hill, I might have not been close to flipping but it sure felt like it, I inched my way forward stacking rocks the whole way.

At this point there was no Turning around, when I started through the trees I have about the much room and both sides, I could've slide my had between the truck and the tree.

Probably the sketchiest and scared I'd hit something blocking my exit, luckily I ended up safe.

 

Got my new tailgate, today.. Finally 4 years of a bent tailgate will be over! (once i get it painted)

 

How loud is loud? Over the radio loud? Does the pulse rate change with vehicle speed?

Your description reminds me of when I had a rear axle bearing failure.

 

I've seen them mounted there too and thought the same thing. Only way mines coming off in a wreck is if it's hit in the side and shears off the welded on mounting studs.

 

Yeah I can hear it over the radio and it just gets slower as I slow down but I can feel it through the steering wheel and it sounds like its right under me while I'm driving.

 

Not the same as a rear axle bearing. Does the noise/pulse/vib change if you shift into 4hi?

 

No I tried that and its still the same consistency and sound

 

Huh. I think I would take weight off the front end and spin the wheels independently to eliminate the wheel bearings and front diff bearings next. If those are clean, move down the line to front driveshaft and tcase. How is the center support bearing? A lot of play? Tho that is usually a higher pitched squeak noise when it starts to go.

 

Just did this on my 3rd Gen 4runner. Fucking love it! Stop on a dime and no more warping issues.

 

Ive checked the right side hub and everything but not the left yet but do you think it could be the needle bearings in the driver side of the front diff. Ill check the passenger side but I'd be surprised if its my huh bearings as my truck only has 118k on it. My center bearing in the drive shaft is fine I think with as much play as I've seen on other trucks.

 

Redid my sliders. Had purchased the truck with these on there and hated them since day 1. The picture with the tube doors on is how there were before..
