 I like peep like you. I'm the same way with my stuff as well. Couldn't care less how others view my preventative maintenance, my stuff lasts for a reason. I've enjoyed this thread and will continue to. Keep up the good work. I find it useful and informative, and I'm sure others do as well.

Hey Glynn863...any updates?? I'm interested in your results with RMI-25. After reading what all you have been through and done, I may use it depending on your results.

The brown gunk can hide in many places and never really be flushed out completely because there is no direct pressure on it,,just bypassing circular flow that keeps it held in the corner or wherever. Sometimes,,the complete cooling system itself has to be replaced before it is all out, including the heater core(part of the cooling system).

Sounds like the majority of it is out by now and you have replaced your radiator cap. Once those gunk up,,they don't like to release pressure as well.

    Run it!.

Just got the RMI-25 late yesterday and will add it today. Coolant looked fairly clear when I checked it yesterday morning, but there may be some small amount of suspended silt. Hope that stuff works.

If it is just light dirty water on your drainouts, I would say you have 90% of it out.

Well, almost 3 weeks after my last post and my son came home from college for the weekend. I was able to get hold of the truck for a few hours. I removed the overflow tank and poured it contents through a coffee filter into an empty gallon jug, then washed out the tank real good. The contents looked like light brown tea, but smelled and felt like regular coolant. There was some sediment at the bottom of the tank, and the coffee filter got some that was still suspended. I poured the jug's contents back through another coffee filter into the overflow tank after it was re-installed in the truck. Apparently I still have a lot of fine rust particles in the system, that hopefully will be pushed out into the tank over time. It's hard to say how well the RMI-25 is working, but I'll check again in a few weeks.
