5100s set to 1.75 should be smoother since they have stiffer rebound damping. The stock TRD bilsteins with eibach coils top out rather easily since they have super soft rebound damping.

Based on this and other threads, it sounds like Eibachs are worth the upgrade over the stock springs.

Can anyone comment on the differences between the Eibachs and the Toytech coils? Are they pretty much the same, just the Toytechs have more adjustablity? I'm curious if there's a difference in the ride.

Understand, It may be because the springs alone only lifted the truck about an inch or less and also my poor picture taking skills. I will post some pics in another post with the 5100s at .85. Regarding your comment about the ride, it is only an opinion, but before on the concrete roads out here I could feel every imperfection when at highway speed. When the 5100s were at 0, the truck seemed to 'float' better over the road. Now that the 5100s are at .85, it rides again similiar to the stock set-up. I consider myself in tune with how a vehicle rides, I am one of those guys that will send his wife crawling over seats on the highway to look for a rattle.:D

Some post lift pics, the street here is on a slight incline.

LOL, I have had my girlfriend jumping around looking for rattles as well :D. I don't mind my ride at all, it is a lot smoother than the Icon coilovers I had. The Icons are for more hardcore stuff than I ever would do. Even when I offroaded on bumpy roads the Icons were too stiff for my opinion. The best lift option in my opinion for these trucks is eibachs combined with 5100s from what I hear. I am just waiting for the 5100s to be back in stock at downsouthmotorsports.
your truck looks good by the way, when you gonna put bigger tires on it.

Oh yeah here is a pic of mine with 285/70/17 on FJ wheels, which I am selling the wheels because I scored a set of procomp 7089 in black, let me know if anyone is interested and I will hook you up:

Thanks for the compliment. I have a complex since my truck was voted 'ugliest color' on this site:mad:. I like the color, it has a clean look and seems to hold its shine. I am trying to talk the wife into larger tires, but I am thinking of only 265/75 R16s since I can not bring myself to trim. The tires are still good (8K miles) since I only live about a mile from work. I have been studying, but unsure if I want a blackwall (Nitto TG) or a raised white letter (GY Wangler Silent Armor). I like the BFGR AT KOs as well, but I am unsure about the weight and high load rating. I like how they look on your truck and really like the width. Keep in touch with Sonny at DSM regarding the 5100s. I lucked up and got a set right before New Years when he got in a few sets. I'm with you on the Billy / Eibach set-up. No vibes, alignment in spec, etc. I think it finally looks like a 4x4. I think my truck sat lower than most in the front prior to the lift but at the same time I am unsure why it sets so high in the rear without the TSB (no complaint though). Take Care.

    2. This is an interesting option. I wonder which rides better, stock coils on billies @ 1.75, or eibach with stock shocks. Thoughts?[/quote]

There may be a third option: Eibachs on Billy 5100s set at .85 since that combination gave me right at 1.75".

Like you said, interesting, I wander which would give the best ride.

i saw in another thread that the stock coils with billy's the ride is kinda harsh since the stock spring is compressed more when you set the billy's to 1.75"....the best i can figure is go with eibach springs and billy's set at .85....i guess eibach springs with stock shocks would only give you about an inch of lift?.....so where does everyone get their eibach springs from?

Front (2.75" total): 1.6" Eibach coils, Toytec 0.5" (L) & 0.25" (R) top plate spacers, 5100's @ 0.85", Built Right uniball UCA's, Differential drop, Removed sway bar Rear: TSB springs, Wheeler's 1.5" AAL, 5100's, 2* shims, Carrier bearing drop, F and R Spidertrax, 285/75-16 Goodyear Duratracs, Self-fabbed sliders, rear bumper, and skid plates, Cobra 75 CB, Bed lined slim lo-pro tool box, Bed Extender, Diff breather mod, Two tail gate security mods, Exhaust dumped behind axle, Can't leave shit alone so plenty more coming...
I have Eibach coils, 5100's set at 0", and the Toytec top plate spacers (They're only 0.5" thick but are supposed to provide about 0.75" of lift. This combination gave me 2"-2.25" of lift. It is dead level with the rear TSB. It aligned beautifully with stock UCA's and drives like a dream.

Because I'm not good at leaving well enough alone, I'll probably end up bumping my 5100's up to 0.85" to get up around the 3" range + an 1.5" AAL in back. I must admit I'm a little concerned though because at the 3" range you can potentially be opening a can of worms. Vibrations, need for UCA's, etc. I may regret this...

From what I can tell, most of the complaints about billies with stock coils are from people with Off Road packages. The progressive springs are probably a lot harsher when loaded .85-1.75 than the linear sport springs. I would assume that's why people going from the Off Road to the Eibach springs feel like the ride is smoother with 5100's. Maybe. It's hard to know for sure when things are so subjective.

I just found out that a coworker has 5100's with stock sport springs, so I'm going to try to get a ride around in his truck and see how it feels to me.

i think you may be right. My buddy has a sport w/ billies set a 2.5 and his ride isn't much rougher than it was before. We couldn't really tell the difference.
