I'd suggest takint them off, using swirl remover to buff it out and then invest in some 3M clear bra just for around that area. Place where you can do it yourself and not worry how good it comes out since it will be covered by the fenders. Just a thought from someone who is O.C.D.

This is a perfect site for some creative and collaborative effort. May need to start a thread on this issue.
What do you guys think of creating ability to fasten to farm to minimize movement??!!
I had the OEM fenders so the body already has holes in place. image.jpg
Here's a view of inside cavity ofBW fender. image.jpg
Here's wheel well that I would need to remove trim to access openings on the bodyimage.jpg

I just need to come up with a material that is firm enough to hold a screw( or bolt) and that can be placed inside the BW fender cavity.... Bonding it to the inside I think would be easy.

How's this for an idea? Use the existing rub marks and have that as a template to run a line of tape across. Then get some plasty dip and build up a nice solid layer with five or six coats of black plasty dip right along that line. Doesn't matter how far down you go because it will be covered by the fender flare. Then the fender flare I will be resting on the plasty dip which should give it a nice Barrier protection between the paint.

Thanks. The steps are made by bodyarmor4x4. Here's the link for them on Amazon. https://www.amazon.com/Body-Armor-4...471&sr=8-2&keywords=body+armor+4x4+for+tacoma I need to put some grip tape on them like other guys on here have cause I don't have $100 or so for the step pad. Make sure that you have jack stands or someone to help you put them on because they are heavy. Hope this helps.

Got rid of the big bulky plastic front licence plate holder and replaced with bracket made by TW member @MetrickMetal .. IMO looks alot better than the big ass bulky plastic factory one that stuck way out

I am actually getting ready to cut/trim mine to make them actual functional flares... the fitment is perfect and not hard to modify. since there aren't any options other than fiberglass fenders/complete replacements I went this route for looks and will trim accordingly for function once I decide on mid travel or going long... great flares either way IMO and compared to others out there I think these are the best fitment and look...

could you put paint protector behind there like you would do on the hood? it might look a little funny but would protect the area from the rub

might not be a bad idea... I think I'm going to trim that bottom lip area that right now bolts to the bottom of the fender and use spacers for the bolt holes and trim the fender and make these pocket flares into cut away bolt on flares. we'll see though as im already dreading cutting the bumper for the new CBI T3 let alone cutting all 4 fender wells lol

    Hi everyone!
I've noticed the new Taco's on the lot at my local Stealership comes with Toyota First Aid kits. Mine didn't come with mine back in February so I went and purchased one. On the window sticker it said $30, got mine for $29+Tax, kinda expensive but...

Its the size of my Ipad

    See my sig for mods
In typical automaker fashion Toyota’s license plate mounting attachment points leave a lot to be desired, especially the rear license plate mounting points, which are two self tapping screws threaded into maybe 3/16” thick plastic, so even when the screws are tighten the plate is not mounted very securely. They also did not provide the ability to use the two lower plate mounting screws for securing the plate to the truck which they could have easily done.

So I improved the top two mounting points by making two spacer plates out of aluminum that snugly fit between the plastic on the bumper cap and the steel bumper frame. I drilled out the self tapping screw threads in the plastic to accept ¼ x 20 pan head bolts, so now the bolts go through the plastic, the spacer plates and the bumper frame and are secured with flat washers and locknuts on the backside. I made the spacer plats long enough so that I can reach up behind the bumper and hold them in place while I insert the bolts. So now when the two top mounting bolts are tightened everything is supported and bolts together very nicely.

    IMG_4762_zpstsctiync_246aff9cd5be9b70814c5804657fb23e934f3f2d.jpg
    [IMG]
What I found strange is that Toyota put holes in the steel bumper frame in line with the top mounting holes in the plastic bumper cap, but are only to allow clearance for the tips of the self tapping mounting screws, as they could have easily made the mount much better than it is

There was not sufficient material do drill the holes in the steel bumper frame for the lower two license plate bolts, so since the mod to the top two mounting bolts stiffened up the attachment so well, all I did was cut away a little bit of the plastic on the bumper cap to allow clearance for the two lower mounting bolt nuts and flat washers, as I wanted the license plate frame and license plate to be secured together with all for bolts. I used an Exacto knife blade heated up with my propane torch to carving out plastic for the nuts.

    IMG_4765_zpsyo7tayb9_df58b2176be7b9398b72377921191aa075f343bc.jpg

So with this improvement to the rear license plate mount and my custom mount I made for the front license plate, both of my plates are now well attached to the truck.
